This may be a bit personal, but...

So, I went off the pill recenlty and we are using good ol' fashion condoms to prevent from having any more little EBIs running about! Anywho, it has come to our attention that we are fresh out of condoms and I was asked to pick some up on my way home from work. EEEEK!!! You have got to be kidding! I can't do that! My husband was really confused as to why I would not do this. "Just pick up some beer/wine and condoms...that'll all make sense to the checkout person" was his reaction to me freaking out! THat didn't make me feel any better! Am I the only person that is freaked out at the thought of buying condoms? I mean, I am married and do have  a child....BUT I just don't think I can do it!!!!! Am I alone here?!

You're soooo not alone!!! I just can't do it!!! My husband doesn't get it either. he can get me pads with no shame but I just can't buy condoms! The one time he made me come in, I was in line with him and the last minute I chickened out and grabbed a magazine. I'm sure the checkout person could see me blushing through the magazine. For my BF's wedding I was her MOH and I was in charge of the bachelorette party. Luckily, all the condoms and lube I got I was able to check them out in the self check out and even so I swear they were staring! I hate being like that I feel so silly about it...but I just can't do it either!

  • I totally understand.  Last time DH and I bought condoms we got them from Sams.  We were joking and laughing the entire time because we had this huge box of condoms in our buggy.  I was slightly embarrassed, but I guess there's no real reason to be.

  • Oh I'm totally with you.  I don't know why I feel that way either.  Now I may do it because the ring on my finger makes me feel a little less embarassed but before we were married it was out of the question!  I know its silly.
  • I think you should go buy a bunch of condoms and some Reddi-wip and go to a check out counter that has a teenage boy behind it.  That would be hilarious!!    Big Smile

Oh yeah...get some vasaline, hand lotion and dirty magazine too!!!

Or you could go the dog biscuit, peanut butter route!!!!! (PETA freaks...I am totally kidding!)

  • I have never bought them by myself so I don't know if I would be embarassed or not.  I'm sure I would, though.

A couple of months ago I had a little "scare" (only because it was so soon) and I went to buy a pregnancy test.  That, for some reason, was embarassing to me.  I felt like a teenager that had done something bad.  And Steph was with me too.  I should have made her buy it.  HAHAHA!

    That's not too fun either...lol

Last year I was in line buying a pregnancy test and a mop at Walmart and my classmate from vet school got in line right behind me.  She saw exactly what I was getting and knowing how fast rumors like that can spread among 80 people (who are all really close), I had to say something about it.  So I nodded my head towards the mop and said that it was for mopping up all my tears in case that (pointing to the test) was positive.  She just laughed and said she understood and wished me luck.  That was embarassing!

  • I'm right there with you EBI and LeeAnn. I would be so embarrassed to buy either one. So ironic since we are all married and clearly are having sex and procreating!

I'm so with you on this one!  I can't bring myself to doing this.  The last time we bought, we were at Costco, and DH suggested we buy the big pack to avoid the embarassment... then we were affraid we'd run into someone, so we hid them underneath other purchases.  LOL

Actually, when I was younger, I couldn't even buy feminine products... I'd always send my mom.  LOL

  • I still don't like walking around the store with a box of tampons in my hand. I bought a few pg tests the other day at walmart self checkout because they were having a sale ... Of course the computer system was acting funny so the clerk had to come over and help me.

She kept eye-balling my stomach as if to make her own assumption as to whether I was pg or not. I wanted to tell her... it's just bloat honey, I'm not pregnant yet.

  • The month before my bfp, my period was a day late.  We were in NY and I wasn't prepared either way, so I went to the store and bought both (tampons and a hpt).  The cashier (older woman) looked at me so funny.  I told her that I was expecting to need one or the other by the next day, and she just laughed and said that she hoped it was the one I wanted.

It turned out to be the tampons.  haha
