1. I started my WAH stuff yesterday. Someone from the office came on Friday to get my computer ready and install the second monitor. I finished the project they had for me in 3 hours yesterday and asked for more work. I have another project today to work on and they said it would be rather time consuming. I work in the late afternoons, due to #3.
2. My gig kid lasted only a month (end of Oct to end of Nov). Her mother decided she wanted to open a daycare, so she made it happen (it's something I knew she wanted to do ahead of time). I sort of missed having someone here for DD to "play" with. Seriously, DD loved watching this kid toddle around and babble. She was fascinated and they did play together a little.
So
3. I posted an ad on craigslist last month (I know) that I had a position available for one child. I got several responses and met with 3 couples. I ultimately decided on the family I thought was the most like DH and I (not to mention they had awesome hours). So now I've got a 2 month old boy and he's a really good baby. DD loves him and can actually make him smile when she squeals. They'll be able to play together in a couple months when he does more than eat and sleep. Last week was his first week here.
So that's an update on my work situation. I'm happy with the way everything is going and I'm also glad to earn a paycheck again. I went through a little phase where I didn't feel as if I was fairly contributing to our household. We were ok financially, I just felt guilty and selfish because I wasn't working and got to spend so much time with DD. DH never made me feel this way, but he also never understood when I did. It's hard to explain.
Bottom line, everything is going great.
Re: Work update
All around!
Gah! I dug and dug for my tape measure and asked DH if he had seen it. He said it was in the garage, I WTFed him about it, and he said he'd get it. I just realized he never did.
I'm making myself a post-it to make him get it when he gets home.
Awesome! Bonus: if you ever decide to steal a baby you've got easy means to do so!
