Gossip Part 2
We'll call this couple A and J. A is a very sweet girl. Mildly awkward, but still social. J stood off by himself for most of the party. I thought he was single, because he seemed to be scoping out the women (which was odd to me, because almost everyone at this party were couples). I didn't even realize until the end of the party that these two were married to each other.
Anyway. They got married straight out of college. He is now 25 and she is 28, and they've been married for 4 years. She found out about a year ago that he'd been cheating on her. They started counseling, things seemed to be improving. Then in December A found out that J had never broken off the affair, and he's been flying the other woman out to meet him every time he goes away for work.
J is in the military, so they're seeing a military counselor. Apparently the military counselor's focus is on keeping the enlisted party happy, so he told A that it was unfair of her to expect J to cut off the affair, because this was a person who had become important to J. J and the counselor then decided that the real issue was whether or not J was honest, and that as long as he's admitting to having the affair there isn't really a problem.
She's still staying with him. Why, you ask? Because she wants children. She has given him until next December to decide that he also wants children. The whole cheating issue is apparently off the table. She is sure that once he sees his child he will love her again and everything will be fine.
So now you're wondering why she wants to have children with this douchebag. Well, she was adopted, and all she's ever wanted was a biological family of her own. Also, she wants to find her biomom, but wants to have a kid first so she can show it to the woman and say "See, I kept my kid and you didn't." So, you know, she has really healthy reasons to want to start a family.
