question about day care prices
Hi Ladies,
DH and I are going to start TTC in the next few months, but we wanted to analyze our finances first. How much does day care for an infant usually cost? We are in the St. Charles area. I don't need names of places, just ballpark figures.
Were there any costs that came with having a baby that you didn't realize or were not expecting?
TIA for any help!
Re: question about day care prices
So far, we've anticpated most of our costs. There is nothing that has really taken us by surprise. For the most part, all of the daycare centers in St. Charles area avg aroung $175-$225 per week. This is for full-time, infant care. We are having a hard time becuase I don't need full-time care. Let me know if you have any other questions.
im in o'fallon and we use an in-home provider because we work weird hours and only needed someone on a part time basis. we were fortuntate to find a lady who just had a baby and wanted to stay home with her. she really isn't in it to make a lot of money, so i pay $27 for a full day, and $15 for a half day. we found her on craigslist.
the daycare centers were all over $200 a week for fulltime care. we didn't go to any because we just knew we couldn't afford/didn't need one. what you pay all depends on the type of daycare you ultimately choose.
everything for babies is expensive (except clothing). really, there is no way around it. breastfeeding has saved us probably hundreds of dollars, formula is very pricey.
you should check out the book "baby bargains". it gives reviews on all baby gear from strollers to diapers to carseats. it kept us from becoming too overwhelmed when picking out stuff
