Dear Community,
Our tech team has launched updates to The Nest today. As a result of these updates, members of the Nest Community will need to change their password in order to continue participating in the community. In addition, The Nest community member's avatars will be replaced with generic default avatars. If you wish to revert to your original avatar, you will need to re-upload it via The Nest.
If you have questions about this, please email help@theknot.com.
Thank you.
Note: This only affects The Nest's community members and will not affect members on The Bump or The Knot.
Do you use them? If you do, which brand do you use? Where did you get them? I am in sticker shock over here.
Re: Seedling heat mats
I used a regular heating pad from Walgreens that I got for like $10. I already had it and my seeds weren't sprouting, so I decided to try it. Within 2 days of turning it on, everything spouted. Mine had a low, med, high setting and I just turned it on low. I temped the soil, and it was holding it right about 80 degrees, perfect for spouting.
This one is similar to the one I used, but mine was a little cheaper I think. Maybe on sale.
I did the refrigerator last year. I had good results with my vinca seedlings.
Mine have sprouted without any heat source. Our house is 65 degrees, and I'd say 75% have sprouted in less than a week.
Now that they're up, I just need a better light source. I have a grow light, but I need a timer because I keep forgetting to turn it on and off.
Not all seeds need to have warm soil.
