Late LONG Weekend Update

I didn't get a chance yesterday to update you on the fantastic Vegas trip! We got in late last night and I had to work today.

We got to Vegas on Saturday and walked around the Wynn and Venetian for a bit. We went back to the hotel (The Mirage) and got ready for dinner. We ate at Mesa Grill, Bobby Flay's restaurant. It was SOOOOO Good. Krystal, you were so right! I ordered the pear cactus (I think, or maybe it was pink pear) margarita. Well actually, I had two. DH got the classic margariata. For appetizer, we got the goat cheese fontina with blue corn chips. so FREAKIN delicious. I ordered the pork tenderloin with the chipotle rub and DH got the T-Bone steak. I've never tasted a better pork tenderloin in my life. It melted in my mouth. Thanks again for the suggestion, K! For dessert, I ordered the coconut cream cake. It was to die for! Don't worry Krystal, DH took pictures, so I'll post them to FB.

Then we went to the Garth Brooks show. Let me prefice this by saying I'm not a big country fan, but DH really wanted to see him. The show was at the Wynn and seated about 1500 people max. Garth is playing two shows a night, three or four days a week for three months only. So we caught him on his last week. We were so lucky to get tickets, because the entire three month set of shows sold out in hours. The show was just Garth Brooks and his guitar. He basically told the story of his life through music. He came out wearing construction boots, jeans (with keys hanging out of his pocket, mind you), a fleece shirt, and ballcap. If I saw him on the street I would have thought he was a construction worker. He didn't have a band. Just him. He was AMAZING. I have never been so impressed with an artist as I was with him. We paid $125 for our tickets and let me tell you, if he charged $500 a ticket I would gladly pay it. His wife Trisha Yearwood was also there and she came out onstage for a few songs. She was also amazing. They have the best voices and looked so in love with each other. It was really sweet. At one point he sang her a song and I totally teared up. The only negative thing about the show was that I had this older couple right in front of me totally making out the entire time. I threw up a little in my mouth a few times. It was so not cute.

After the show we briefly dropped into the Beatles Revolution Lounge at our hotel. It was a bunch of drunk young girls with older men hitting on them, so we quickly left.

On Sunday, we walked around and did some shopping. I got a cute coach clutch that I've been eyeing for a while and had to restrain myself in Calvin Klein and managed to get out of there with just a shirt, even though I wanted to buy the whole store.

Sunday night we went to Samba, a Brazilian Steakhouse in the Mirage. It was okay. Nothing to write home about.

Then we went and saw he Cirque De Soleil (I'm sure I butcherered the spelling) Love show. OMG!! I'm a huge Beatles fan and was just in heaven for the show. It was SOOOOO Cool!!!

Monday we went to the Vegas Outlets. I'm obsessed with Kate Spade handbags and of course, had to go in the store. They closed the Kate Spade regular store in Sacramento, so our closest one is in San Francisco (boo). Anyway, I walked into the outlet KS store and found my mecca. I swear they moved everything from the closed Sacramento store into the outlet. They had so much good stuff! EVAERYTHING was 40% off. I've had my eye on a bag for a year now that is $500 and could never justify spending that much. The bag was $225 outlet price and another 40% off that! DH is always so nice about letting me go crazy in KS when they have a sale. So I got to get the bag. Then we noticed they had a bunch of KS diaper bags. There was one I really liked and I told DH he had to get me one when I get pregnant. Well the bag was $325 marked down to $175 and another 40% off that. DH told me to go ahead and get it, since he knows I will want one when I get pregnant. I was a little aprehensive because now I'm supersticious about not getting pregnant since I bought something baby related, but it was too good of a deal to pass up.

So all in all, it was a fantastic weekend. The weather was perfect. It was so nice to just spend three days with DH since he's gone during the week and our weekends are sometimes spent doing things on our own.

Now I have to get ready for Europe!! Such is the life! I really have it rough don't I?? Stick out tongue

  • Awesome!! You had to get the bag! Total score! So glad you had such a great primer trip for your European vacay! :-)

  • Yeah for Bobby Flay!!!!!!!!!!!! So glad you guys had a great experience there...so much good food there, that I could eat it all. Also, Bobby Flay released his cookbook for Mesa Grill...so if you want, you can try and re-create the dinners. I've recreated the pork tenderloin meal, and it's pretty labor-intensive.

Can't wait to see the pics, and you got 2 weeks till tapas and sangria and croissants galore! YUM!
