I need advice on cheese... yes cheese..
lame as it sounds... so we get shredded cheese in the bag, transport it the 2 minutes (really and truly) from Kroger to our apartment in canvas bags and then put it away in the fridge... so why is it that it gets all gooey? It gets all icky and sticks together and to the bag and almost goes back to its original milky state... very gross... we had been keeping it the drawer and then we moved it to the shelf and still cheesey goo... any suggestions? what's going on???
Re: I need advice on cheese... yes cheese..
Is your fridge set to too high a temp? The only thing I could think of is that it would be melting in the fridge, I buy that kind of cheese all the time and don't have a problem but things have been known to freeze in my fridge but I guess I would take a few ice crystals over melted cheese.

LOL, I gagged a little when I read the melty state part! I am OCD about all dairy related products- if it even looks a little weird, I have to throw it away. It's weird, I know! Because of that, I also do the block cheese (OCD kicking in again here- I buy the block cheese soley for the reason that I can cut off the dark parts- that gives me peace of mind. Yes, I'm crazy!) I agree with the previous poster though about your fridge setting- that sounds like it could be the culprit. Also, what kind of cheese are you buying (mild, sharp, etc). I think that some types keep better in the plastic bags than others because of how much oil they have in them?
Good luck!
