I can officially say that I'm never watching this show again. I know that they are equally offensive to everyone (or try to be...) but making fun of Sarah Palin's down syndrome child is NOT funny, nor is making fun of down syndrome at all.
That show is officially fucked up.
Re: Family Guy
and I didn't even see the episode, because I try to avoid the show anyways. I just read about it on MSN.

I don't see it like that at all. Chris had a line after he got abused by the girl with downs that he had a crush on. What he said was, "everyone treats you like you're different. You're not different. You're an azzhole like everyone else!"
I saw it more as an offensive way to prove the point that people with disabilities (mental/physical) are no different than "normal" people and shouldn't be treated differently.
it's a dumb show. and you're certainly within your right to be offended.
but SP can't seem to figure out where her offense comes from.
Rahm Emmanuel: offensive
Rush Limbaugh: satire (entertainment) and she happens to agree with, ok
Family Guy: entertainment (and actually satire), not ok?
Crap...I Mean Crafts
I have never watched Family Guy in my life. It's not my thing, and I didn't think that was funny.
I watched it, and I don't think they made fun of DS at all. They treated the DS character like any other character, and pointed out that differently-abled people are still people, and can be a-holes just like anybody else. Yes, it's an offensive show, but's it's equal-opportunity: everyone is treated equally for the purposes of skewering. There are no sacred cows.
And the Sarah Palin bit was a one-off, one-liner. And it was funny.
Didn't see it, but I stand by what I said on TIP,
where the hell did society end up w/ the 'new' stereotype that all mentally handicapped people = gentle giants?
So all DS kids = sweet. Because they're not. Many of them are, but they're not ALL sweet by any strech. And that sterotype is dangerous--I tend to think of it in the same way as 'happy darkies sittingo n a porch, playing banjos' sort of sterotypes.
