My work BFF wanted me to go to a Zumba class with her. I don't sweat, as a rule, soooooo I wasn't lookign forward to this class AT ALL. I was so nervous all day yesterday, and almost cancelled many times.
So, I got to the gym last night, and "oh darn, daycare is full", My friend came to meet me and I said "well, I guess I will just have to wait until they get an open space, and then I can go walk the treadmill or whatever, I was pretty nervous for this class anyway". Right then another daycare employee showed up, and said "well that's the instructor right there!" in line behind me. (Booo) So I dropped my kid off, and we walked upstairs to the class. I was practically having an anxiety attack by this point.
It started at 6:30. Loud, fun salsa music. Ok. I can do this. 6:33, maybe I can't do this. I'm pretty tired already. Out of breath, obviously I have no rhythm, and can't tell my left from my right. Now it's 6:37. I'm 7 minutes in, and I want to quit. This is TORTURE. After the song ends, take a big driink of water. I'm so sweaty, gross.
Song starts again. It's a pretty dirty rap song, (that I know all the words to, I think it's Pitbull) anyway so while I'm dancing, I start rapping also, cause I'm awesome like that. So I say one of the lines, and turns out it's the edited version, so I randomly say "here comes the egg whites" when the room is silent. LOL. Whatever. Now it's 6:50, I've made it 1/3 of the way through class, I can stick with it.
I actually made it through the rest of the class. The last 10 minutes or so, I was nowhere near the proper beat, BUT whatever, neither was anyone else at the point. Everybody else was sweating, breathing hard, taking water breaks, so I didn't feel like too much of a loser.
Went home and laid down, went to bed early, and could barely wake up this morning. My legs are sore, but the rest of my body feels fine. I am exhausted though.
The best part!! I'm totally going back on Friday morning for another class. It was SO much fun. My gym does it Tuesday night, Friday morning, and Sunday morning, and I'm going to try and make it to all 3 this week. It was a really fun way to work out, the music was great, and it was definetly a workout.
Anybody want to meet me on Friday morning at 9:30??? I can get you a guest pass if you aren't already a member of 24 Hour!

OMG, I would die if I did Zumba! That's great that you made it through and are going to go back.
Cardio classes are NMS. Yoga and Pilates classes would be cool, and maaaaybe kickboxing. But I'd prefer to hit the elliptical or try C25K again before doing a cardio class.
