The long story of our closing..

What a long day.  I got home about 30 minutes ago.  I spent some time at my new house with my family.. who is now living in Manchester.  The closing was not without its drama.. to match the rest of this whole process.  The wife owner cant be around the husband.. he was abusive and you can tell.  She was so scared when it got close to his time to get there.  She kept startling every time the door to the office would open.  Finally she left.. she was so sweet.. she had made us a picture album of the yard before it got over grown.  We were done our stuff pretty quickly.  I had heard horror stories about closing paperwork.  It only took us about 15 minutes.  It was great.  We were all sitting around chatting and the husband finally shows up, 1/2 hour late.   He comes in and sits down and says "where is Rita?" (the wife)  He is told that she has left.  He said "well she owes me $560 and i am not signing anything until i get my money"  My jaw dropped and the room becomes silent and Robs grip tightened considerably.   THe listing agent asks him to come into the other room wtih her and they start arguing and she calls the wife and this goes on for almost an hour.. my team is ready to go in and beat him.  My mortgage person, Sean, is ready to go in and say.. look this money is a personal issue.  You signed a purchase and sale and now is the time to sign the rest.. if you dont you are in breach of contract and my clients could sue you for that, then you will not only get nothing for the house but could be facing fines and court costs...  But he came in and sat down.  Then he said something that i had to hold Robs arm back for... he said of course i was going to sign, i wanted to see what i could get out of this.    The room went silent again.. and he went on with the signing.. all the while telling everyone who would listen how much money he had put into the house and the hardwood floors in the living room were 10K themselves.. red oak you know.   Blah blah.. but then he started telling us things like during the winter you have to go our and clear out the gutters by the house (the rain gutters that the city has) and that you have to do this and that.  He told us how the house was the oldest on the street and told Rob that we can get a tax break on property taxes since he is disabled.  All this information.  It was hard to be grateful to him after the upset he caused but he gave us all some good info.
We left there and went back to the house.  Rob picked me up and took me across the threshold.  It was terrifying and sweet at the same time.  Cherylann took a picture and then we unpacked the uhaul we had rented for the day.  We cleaned and cleaned and got so much done.  I really wish i had a camcorder so i could take some video cause the pictures do not do the mess justice.  The whole down stairs needs new drywall.. it is either lathe and plaster or the drywall is disintegrating.  We have so much work to do.  I am excited.. and scared.  LOL
Well i am off to bed.. hugs to you all..
