Hi I thought I would pick your brains. I need an external hard drive for my laptop. I am probably going to go for 1TB. Any recs? Oh it doesn't have to be a portable.

The only thing that I dont like is that I can't access my files on it w/a Mac, but that's not the drive's fault... lol
If you're just storing pics and files then 1TB is too much really. Using a 1TB would be more like storing 100 movies or so (I didn't do the math on this but you get what I mean). 250GB should do you.
Western Digital makes very good drives. Their passport line is the portable drives (info and power on one USB) and the notebook line is the "non-portable" (they have a separate power line from the USB line).

we have had problem with the power supply on our Western Digital. The power plug connector came loose so it would turn itself on and off.
We have been happy with our Seagate.
