Anyone use washable furnace filters?

I was looking online for a humidifier and came across a company that sells washable furnace filters.  I didn't even know that they made these, but seems much more EF and economical than buying new ones every 3 months.  Has anyone used washable furnace/ac filters?  Likes, dislikes?  A specific brand you like?

Re: Anyone use washable furnace filters?

  • My uncle works for a HVAC company and 'rinses' a lot of the filters... he has told us we can wash ours and htey aren't necessarily washable.

  • I was looking into these also, but our home depot only carries a certain brand that you cut to size. I haven't washed it yet, but it's beend doing as good a job as the non eff filter.  I can't remember the name of it, but it's a green material that's wound on a grid.
