Hi ladies!
I've been on and off the knot/nest for a while now, so my name might be a little familiar if you've been around for a while, but if not: Hi!
I'm Christina, and my husband is Corey. We've been married for almost a year and live in the west valley where he is an instructor in the air force and I'm a stay at home puppy mommy (laid off from my marketing job last year and haven't rejoined the workforce yet).
We've been trying to get pregnant since after the wedding and although my OB and Primary Care doctors are great they're sending me out to the world of infertility clinics/doctors. Since we're on Tricare, nothing at all is covered so I figured if we're going to be paying out of pocket we may as well get some first hand reviews on who people liked.
If anyone has any specific doctor or clinic to recommend I would really, really appreciate it. We're looking specifically at IUI at this point and will do IVF if necessary, but can do that thru a military facility so IUI is our main focus for this clinic.
Thanks guys!

BLOG
I am going to Dr Larsen in Chandler, he also has a partner in Scottsdale. So far I really like him, he does everything which is nice...my last RE only did the office visits and I didn't feel like I got personal attention.
Dr Larsen's website is www.azarh.com
If you ever want to chat PM me as I am going through IF currently so I can relate to what you are going through.
Thanks! We're hoping to find someone in the west valley, but I'll drive to Texas if it means that we get someone knowledgeable, understanding, and helpful.
We aren't quite sure what the problem is, but I think they're suspecting PCOS. I haven't ovulated at all since I've been charting, but my TSH, FSH and LH are all normal and I had a laparoscopy to look for endo and tubal problems which also came back with no abnormalities. My DH has good counts, but low motility so I'm not sure at this point whether they're even going to try Clomid because of his motility.
I'll know more after a consult with my OB in the morning, but I'm trying to be proactive and get things moving because you know how slow this whole process is! I'm 28, but sometimes I feel that with all the waiting I'll be 35 before they even start!
Oh, and we're going on a cruise for our first anniv too! Where are you going?
I was dx at 16 with PCOS and have had normal blood tests and really off ones. In recent years the tests have gotten better, which is strange as I have less and less periods each year. I too don't ovulate and did 2 years of treatments with my ex-h.
I just got done with a fertility study in October and am trying to save up some money for IUI. We are actually thinking of skipping right to IVF since I didn't have luck last time and never made it to IUI.
When is your cruise and where to? We are doing the Eastern Caribbean through Carnival. It will be our first cruise so we are excited.
Sorry you're going thru such a hard time, especially with your past.
But, I will admit that it's nice to hear that I'm not the only one going thru difficulties, since it seems that everywhere I turn another one of my friends is *SURPRISE* pregnant!
I'm hopeful about IUI with Clomid, as a big problem that we have is a lot of scarring on my cervix from cancer I had five years ago. Luckily, they removed it all, but unfortunately it resulted in scar tissue making my cervix very small. I'm thinking that if we can get the anovulation under control, then bypassing the cervix will help. Is there a definitive test they can do for PCOS? I've heard conflicting stories that it's diagnosed when they can't find someone else wrong, or that there is a blood test they can run.
We are doing the western caribbean through Carnival in April! We almost went with the eastern on the Liberty because we wanted to hit Ocho Rios, but this schedule worked better for us. I'm sure you'll have an amazing time!
I dont have a recommendation- but just wanted to jump in and say, I'm in the same boat!
I was Dx with PCOS this month, after not ovulating well since I stopped BCP and started charting. I'm back on BCP right now while I recover from knee surgery, but then we're going to start the Clomid route- and hope that solves our situation.
We're planning a trip to the Turks and Caicos islands this summer- not a cruise, but tropical destination none the less
Hopefully the tropical islands will be just what we all need to relax and get knocked up.
Sorry to hear about your history of cancer! It has hit so many people in the last several years...all about our age (20s).
As far as a dx for PCOS (Stein-Leventhal), usually is it dx by ultrasound and bloodwork. It is a very common dx. I was dx by bloodwork first and then ultrasounds when was older. My drs didn't think I was PCOS for quite a while because I am not the standard definition by looks- not over weight, didn't have excess hair and I had LONG cycles (6-9 months of AF and then only 1-2 weeks off- let me tell you NOT FUN!!!)
Jennifer- how are you feeling after your knee surgery? I have been putting off knee sx since I was 15...at first it was due to my gymnastics- I didn't want to miss nationals but now it's because I am a big baby!
Well I started PT yesterday, and while it felt good, it also felt not good lol. I'm sore today, thats for sure!
Have any of you ladies checked out other boards? (GP, TTTC, Infertility)?
I thought it would help, but it kind of makes me depressed. I mean, just to hear so many sad, sad stories- I guess I could check out SAFI.... I just wonder if its planting to many fears in my head too soon.
I post on TTGP, GP and IF everyonce in a while but so far since I haven't been really into IF treatments again I haven't found them to be a home yet. Try not to let it get to you too fast. PCOS is a pretty common thing and many get pregnant without problems or with little problems.
Glad to hear PT went well yesterday. I can imagine that you are sore today.
I have checked out a few of the TTC and infertility boards on this site and others, but I agree - a little depressing.
I originally thought that reading infertility blogs of women who successfully got pregnant would help, but that just makes me jealous and then I feel guilty for being jealous because I'm truly happy for them, and it just starts a nasty cycle.
By the way, I did find a great infertility clinic and with a little luck it's actually on the west side of town. Dr. Troche is nationally recognized for great success rates and was recently named Phoenix's Top Doctor for 09. I figured the wait list would be a mile long but I was able to get in at the beginning of March, so I'll let you ladies know how it goes and how I like the office. And, if this happens to apply to anyone else, they offer military pricing that is a lot less than traditional out of pocket.
