Are you happy with your vehicle? Would you get something else? I need to get a car in the next few days. I previously had an 02 Civic. It was a good car but just kind of boring. Any ideas. I commute 30 minutes one way in stop and go traffic.
Would you buy a toyota now? Thanks
Re: What do you drive?
What's boring about a Civic? They are FANTASTIC cars that run forever.
I drive an 08 Civic & plan on driving it until its death.
I have a Jetta TDI (Diesel) and I love it. Get 45-50 mpg and it's fun to drive. Mines a 2004, but I had one before that and loved it as well. I've talked to people at the dealership while getting mine serviced that are on their 3rd or 4th one. One guy had one go to 500,000 miles before trading it in and he only traded it in because he liked the new design - his old one ran fine!
We are planning to trade in DH's saturn after all the crap we've gone through with it and we are looking at Toyota Rav4's and Subaru Outbacks. I think we'll go with the outback ultimately as we like it better (Plus, it's a greener car based on the manufacturing and slightly better mileage) and it's AWD, but we'll see.
We loved our Mini Cooper, but we are picking up our Mini Cooper Clubman S in a few weeks. It has a third door and a little more space, which we really need right now. The gas mileage on Mini's is great and we love the options, so we are sticking with them for our main vehicle. I drive 20 minutes to work and 20 min home. My husband has a work vehicle, so we save a lot on gas that way.
Our other car is a Pontiac G6 GT- not so great on gas, but better than an SUV. I got it in 08 and I will keep it for a long time since it is paid off. When looking, I needed something that was between $14-17,000, 4 doored, and larger sized than the Mini. I didn't want an SUV, crossover, or hatchback. It has a lot of extras I wanted and I got it for less than the price range I was looking into, so it's good for now!

I have an '07 Toyota Yaris sedan. It may be boring, but unless you can afford a Tesla Roadster I'm not sure how exciting you can get
drive 70 miles round trip to work and usually get between 36-38 mpg. If I need an oil change, or traffic is really stop &go, I only get 33. I will drive this until it dies.
Good luck!
My dad has a 2008 Civic and it's really nice. It was in the shop (someone hit him) and he had a Toyota Yaris for a rental and I really liked it. It's inexpensive and actually surprisingly comfortable and nice inside.
DH has a Volvo S60. Love it, love it, love it. SUPER comfortable seats and it's really nice looking inside. Separate climate control for the driver and passenger. It tells you how many miles you have until you run out of gas. It tells you your average mpg and it's usually very high! I really like it.
I had a Toyota Scion tc and had to sell it to get out of debt. I miss that car so much. I loved it, but I love being debt free more
I guess I question buying a new car just because my current one is "boring." But I guess that's up to you.
I drive a 2007 Subaru Impreza wagon. It gets kind of crappy gas mileage, which is now the only thing I hate about it. My next car will probably be more efficient. But it comes with AWD standard and all the other bells and whistles standard that Toyota and Honda wanted to charge me extra for, all for a better price. It works well for me on trips we take and with our dog.
DH and I each have a smart fortwo. We love them! Since it's just us, we don't really need a larger car. There's plenty of room in the back for our dog, plenty of room for groceries, and plenty of room for a couple of suitcases if we run away for a few days. : ) We gas up each car once a month, and spend a total of $40 each month.
VW Jetta TDI (clean diesel). Can't beat the fuel economy and the size is decent. My only complaint is that it's a little bit "old people-like" compared to my previous car, but I can live with it.
We also have an old Subaru WRX which is super fun to drive and has held up well (more than 140K miles), but it's kind of gas hog.
Our 3rd car is 22 year old giant Mercedes diesel that runs on used veggie oil.
I love love LOVE my 2007 Prius, by far the best car I've ever owned. Recalls and all. I get 46 mpg on my bumper-to-bumper commute, which technically is a mix of local and highway but I only get up to highway speeds for a few miles. The Prius fits 5 adults comfortably and has a huge trunk and the backseats fold flat (I've fit chairs, Christmas trees, and bikes back there). I'm sure you can fit 2 carseats in the back seat, which leaves the entire area behind the hatchback for baby stuff or dogs or whatever. The dashboard is very intuitive, I feel like all the buttons are right where they're supposed to be. My iPod plugs right in. I can drive in the HOV lanes in most highways in VA.
We drive a 30 yr old Ford 1T PU that runs on non-harvested biodiesel (ours is recycled vegetable oil from a potato chip factory). We rarely use it (once every couple wks) - we're bicycle commuters.
VW, Mercedes and BMW also have clean diesel models that are biodiesel compatible. MIL drives a '05 Golf TDI that runs great on biodiesel as well.
I drive a Volvo S40T5 and love it. DH has a VW Jetta and he is happy with it. Neither are the most fuel efficient, but on mine I can see the MPG I get and am happy for the most part.
