What to expect at naturopath appointment?

I've been feeling really blah lately and cannot seem to lose weight.  I have hypothyroidism and the symptoms are similar to what I get with that but slightly different.  I have an appointment with my doctor (who does integrative medicine) next week but I'd really like to see what a naturopath thinks.  What usually happens at the first appointment?

Re: What to expect at naturopath appointment?

  • My first appointment at my naturopath was 2 hours and we went over my whole history.  She had me fill out a long questionnaire before I saw her and we went over that and she took notes.  At the end, she asked what my priorities were and we went from there.

  • I had a similar experience to Alirebco.  My naturopath was very thorough.  She even looked at my eyes through a magnifying glass and used a machine to see what was going on in my body.  I've been on some herbs and supplements for about 2 months, and I'm already feeling better.  It takes about 3 months for everything to officially kick in, though, so I'll let you know how I feel in a month.  So far, I'd highly recommend it, though.
