Share your current food obsessions:

Once I find a delicious & healthy combo, I find myself going through spurts where I eat the same thing everyday.

Currently loving:

1. plain rolled oats w/ chunky peanut butter & dried cranberries

2. plain greek yogurt sweetened w/ homemade raspberry preserves & whole almonds

3. also drinking a lot of chai tea sweetened w/ local raw honey & a touch of organic half & half

Inspire me with some of your food loves!

  • A pita stuffed with quinoa tabbouleh, falafel and hummus.  I cannot get enough of it.

Vegetarian korma - I sub half and half for the heavy cream to make it healthier.

Fresh squeezed grapefruit juice with nothing added.

  • I do that too, eating a lot of the same things over and over. When I like something, I crave it, and it seems easy!

I've been eating a lot of Koyo organic ramen. Its delicious and filling and pretty healthy, cheap and easy. I'm not usually one for packaged foods, but I've been going to the gym a lot lately and still struggling with finding time for everything in life (like dishes haha).

Julie's Organic Yogurt. SO good, no funky ingredients, healthy, and tastes like full fat ice cream.

Shrimp soups. I buy shrimp with the shells on and I always save my shells, and its pretty easy to make a quick stock with veggie trimmings, some shells, and then throw in some shrimp and veggies, seasonings.

  • Our co-op sells yogurt from pastured cows. It is amazing. My son and I eat it everday with homemade granola. You just don't get yogurt like this in the store.

Homemade bread with goat cheese (also from our co-op) and local(!!) greenhouse grown tomatoes. I can not tell you how awesome it is to eat beautiful vine ripened tomatoes in the dead of winter.

soup. lots and lots of chicken soup, split pea soup and beef stew.

  • DH's homemade yogurt.  He's so proud of it so we're eating it like crazy.  Breakfast, lunch, and dinner.  A dollop of it is awesome on Indian food.

Quinoa and tempeh, since I'm craving a lot of protein on these cold winter nights.  DH makes a kick @ss Quinoa salad with his homemade red wine vinegar, and I could eat tempeh fajitas every day.

Apples.  They're the only local produce I've got so I eat a whole apple and wash it down with apple cider every day for lunch.  Eating apples right now.

Any kind of soup.  Same craving for warm food on cold nights.  Every month this winter we've made butternut squash, broccoli cheddar, minestrone, and curried lentil soup.

  • A bit ago it was chickpea salad with black olives, lemon, and olive oil.  Here's the recipe.  I was also digging Indian hummus but that's a no go b/c of the chickpeas and tahini which I can't have.  Loved the flavors though!

Since then I've had to cut out a lot of stuff out of my diet, including all soy and beans so I haven't been able to eat it.  I'm basically only eating meat, (no eggs and dairy), fish, fruits, veggies and walnuts because of my stomach issues.   Ugh.

  • homemade whole wheat toast with almond butter
  • I have two-

    1. Raw kale salad with a homemade vegan dressing. I don't know why I was scared to eat raw kale as a salad, but now that I have, I could eat it for breakfast, lunch and dinner.

    2. Even though I JUST made these today, I'm totally impressed with the recipe- raw vegan strawberry tarts. They are beyond ridiculous. I even brought some over to my parents and they ate 5 of them.

Yum!  If you're gonna post something like this, you have to share the recipe!

  • Organic non-fat plain yogurt from TJ's with fresh fruit (whatever I'm in the mood for). Sometimes I'll add TJ's pecan granola cereal on top...just a few tablespoons.
  • I get more obsessed with ingredients than dishes, most of the time, but here are mine:

    1. Greek yogurt with my mom's quince jelly and some ground cardamom.

    2. Cabbage.  So odd, but until this year, I had never bought it.  I have no idea what I was afraid of.  I made a delicious red lentil dish with cabbage last night (here, from Smitten Kitchen, though I made a few substitutions), but I've also just sauteed it or even eaten it raw.

    3. Leeks.  I've been using them everywhere instead of onions because our favorite farmers' market people have them, and they are so good!  I love that the markets make me try things I've never bought before.

  • -organic carrot juice.  6oz w 2oz aloe vera juice daily=healthy, regular me

-0.5c plain greek yogurt, 0.25c organic whole wheat FEED granola, 1 tsp honey, 0.25c organic kefir for a strong protein breakfast

    -quinoa.  Love me some quinoa.

-Coconut "ice cream".  OMG, sooo good!!
