Plants that can survive without sunlight?
I work in an office that has no sunlight. Just lovely fluorescent lights. Is there any live plant that can survive in here?
Re: Plants that can survive without sunlight?
Some folks in my building have an office with no windows and they have ferns that stay alive. I think the ferns are real....
I would also recommend philodendron. They need a little light, but I think they can probably get away with artificial light. They do well in dimly lit areas. I had one that survived DH's closing of all the curtains. It's hard for me to grow plants indoors, but it is possible with the right plant.
Flourescent light contains half of the light that plants need to thrive--the blue part. An incandescent light near the plant can provide the red light it needs, so it you have a small lamp you could put near the plant that would help.
One of the biggest factors hindering indoor plant growth is the low humidity. Be sure to mist/water your plant regularly.
