**dandy**

I've been to Disney World once. We went the summer between my 8th and 9th grade year as a family "graduation" trip (my mom got her bachelor's, I was going into high school, my one brother finished kindergarten, and my other brother finished pre-school).

Disney World is much more overwhelming to me than Disneyland. Basically, Disneyland is the equivalent to the Magic Kingdom at Disney World. As such, we spent most of our time at the other parks (Epcot, MGM, and the water parks). I found all of those fascinating.

I really want to go back to Disney World. I'm trying to convince DH that we should do one of the Disney play/sail cruises.

  • Ha thanks for satisfying my curiosity! I'm a secret theme park nerd.

I agree - WDW is wayyyy more overwhelming than Disneyland.  My parents and I used to go every other year to Disneyworld. I haven't been since I was 20 but I still maintain that if you were lost somewhere in the park, I could easily help you find your way around over the phone without a map.

I've been to Disneyland twice more recently and I didn't love it as much. I feel like the attention to detail in WDW is greater because basically the park is an entire city - once you enter the gates, the street signs change, the fire hydrants change, the fire station is themed- basically everything fits together and the attention to detail is fascinating to me.  As for Disneyland, it was sort of a letdown getting off the interstate in kind of a shitty neighborhood and BAM - you're there.  It just didn't do it for me.  Although, I totally get the other side of the argument - that the juxtaposition of the surroundings is what makes it magical. I have no idea where I heard that, maybe it was from you? Have we had this conversation before?? haha.

wow. I just totally geeked out. I miss Disney World! My favorite park is by far Epcot - Now that I'm a  "grown up", I would rather visit any of the actual countries rather than the world showcase there, but --again with the attention to detail -- it's pretty cool.

  • Sorry to butt in but dandy I looooooove Disney World too and I'm so jealous that you've gotten to go so many times!! I'm a secret Disney World geek too. I almost cried when I told T that my dream is to one day take a big week-long trip with our future kids and just do all of the parks, and he said "Well, only if we have the money..." It is happening, even if we have to eat Ramen for a couple of years to save up.

Anyway, I just had to tell you that I'm a super big Disney fan too. Whenever I happen to see that there's a show about it on the Travel Channel I just have to watch it. I've been there with my family 4 times, and the most recent time was in 2000. I went to Disneyland once in 2006 with friends, and when I was younger I went to EuroDisneyland (now Disneyland Paris). I also went to Tokyo Disneyland twice when we lived in Japan. I almost went to Hong Kong Disneyland a few years ago but it was soon after it had opened and I heard it was kinda crappy so we skipped it. Hopefully it's gotten better by now :) .

Soooo yeah don't feel ashamed, there are Disney geeks out there, they're just in hiding!
