Hotels

Hey.

As I posted a while back, my husband has taken a job in San Antonio. We finally have a start date at the beginning of April. I am going to be coming down in a few weeks just for a few days to look at houses, he will be working near the airport, and the houses I have found so far are in the north central part of the city and over to the east. Does this sound like I'm looking in the right areas? Also, does anyone know of any hotels that is in that area that isn't too expensive but is decent? Thank you in advance.

Re: Hotels

  • North Central SA is nice..but lots of traffic.  Don't go too far east, NE is usually ok but I wouldn't go "East".    I personally like the DeZavala/I-10/Huebner area, it's close to a lot with easy access to I-10 (obviously) and 1604.

As far as hotels, try the Drury Inn.  We have a few locations here in SA and they are nice with a great breakfast and evening snacks/drinks.

  • I think you're okay. Parts of the East side get pretty sketchy, so just watch for the "feel" of the neighborhood. NE would be a little better. North Central is fine, but some of the areas can have bad traffic as pp said. Have no recs whatsoever on hotels. :(

  • North Central is nice.

Hotel = Pear Tree Inn is just up the road from the airport. When my friend got married my hubby and I (not married at the time) stayed there. It was just a super nice place. LOVED the shower, a walk-in one.

  • We found an awesome deal on a Hyatt Place near the airport. If I stayed two nights, I got the third free so it came out to be similar to the "cheaper" hotels out there.

I appreciate all the comments. :)

  • You've got to love deals! Sounds like you really got one!
  • I live right by the airport and am very happy with the area.  There is a little section of houses right by the airport that are in the Alamo Heights School District and it is a very good place to live if schools are important to you.  Good luck.

  • If you like suburbs, then there are some little towns right on the northeast border of San Antonio. Schertz, Selma and Cibolo are really nice areas.

We kindof finalized a list last night, and there were some in Cibolo, Converse,  one in Slema, and two in Universal City.

I really appreciate the input you all have to offer. :)

Glad you're getting thing finalized. I've been in Schertz (close to Selma, UC and Cibolo) for almost 2 years and I really like it. There's a small town feel to it while we are still close to the rest of the major city. Good luck!
