I spent a bunch of money on a party for my freshmen today, and then they were totally rude and disrepectful to each other all day. It ruined the fun atmosphere of the class party. I had to yell so many times, I had to have individual talks with 3 different kids, I had to send someone outside, and I had to talk to the counselor.
No good deed goes unpunished, I guess.
Now I'm so sad because they were so mean.
Re: Work vent
I actually cried. Can you believe that?
It wasn't over their behavior, it was when one kid told me what another kid said to him. I couldn't believe anyone could say something so awful.
what did he say?
A white kid asked a black kid if he picked cotton.
This would make me cry too.
Yikes. The future of our fine nation, ladies and gentleman!
OMFG! Unbelieveable! It's times like this I could NOT be a teacher because I would just fly off the handle!
Oh, wait. I wrote that backwards. It was the Asian stealing from the Mexican that was backwards.
Sorry, I can't keep my racist jokes straight today.
oh no, he di'nt!!!!!
If it makes you feel any better I had a little boy in my class come up to me the other day and shyly mumble something to me. I said "what?" and he whispered "I pooped on the floor". Sure enough there was a little turd on the floor in the bathroom
this kind of reminds me of my english class in HS, this class was a complete joke and the kids were usually OOC. I walked in to see a sub, he was actually a family friend's son. the kids were so crazy that day that it was his first and last day as a teacher.
it didn't help that it was the day the OJ verdict came down, but still.
Straight to detention with you child!
I just read through that race post.
That school play leads directly to the comments made in my classroom today.
This!
I'm sorry you cried Y_L, but freshman are so immature. They're so wrapped up in themselves and can't see what the "real" world is truly like. They don't appreciate the teacher that you are who is trying to make a difference versus those who have stopped caring.
In a secret past: I was a HS teacher and I cried a couple of times too ... shhsh
CBB & Y_L you're my heroes!
YL
That stinks. I'm shocked/ horrified by some of the things my students do.
We having been watching ROOTS for Black history month as a part of social science
When Kunta Kinte was being whipped for trying to escape and not answering to the name Toby, my students laughed and laughed. They really though slavery was funny.
To make matters worse, 90% of my students are black.
This one I can relate to ... I had one mad at me last week that peed all over the bathroom floor. Not as bad as a turd but I was not a happy camper to be cleaning massive amounts of pee off the floor.
