How to keep cats out of garden

We've attracted some stray cats lately and would love some suggestions on how I should keep them out of my raised beds this spring.  My mom swears by cayenne pepper, but I don't think it's as effective as she thinks it is.  Any other suggestions?

  • The cayenne works, you just have to reapply it every so often.

  • I used to use a motion sensor sprinkler when I lived somewhere my cat could go outside. She steered clear of my flower beds after getting sprayed a few times. It works for other critters too.
  • plant some lavender around the edges of your garden... they really don't like it.
