So I pumped this morning after Libby's "up for the morning" feed using my manual Avent Isis. I got 4 oz! Pumping is weird...I am a little freaked out by seeing my nipple look like that in the flange. Joseph wanted to take a pic! OMG. NO!
Anyway, J gave Libby one ounce with a First Year's Breastflow bottle after her afternoon nap. She like it! YAY! I finished her feed at my breast since J had to get ready for work, but for her first time (and his...the guy has never fed a bottle to a baby before!) not too shabby.
Re: BR: F/U to Pumping
Ha! It's so funny that you say this! I was looking at pumps online last night (I live on the edge, I know) and I was actually wondering about this! I've seen diagrams of how its supposed to fit waaaay down into the baby's mouth, and all I could think was, "Wait...so it will look like that in the pump too, won't it. WEIRD."
glad i'm not the only one who found this weird!
yay for Libby taking to the bottle! Those were the kind I had at first and he struggled with it so much. Glad she's taking it well - although she has had lots of practice with the real thing, so it makes sense
Yay for Libby taking the bottle!
Yeah.. It's weird! I am photo crazy..... But NO PHOTOS of pumping! Hahahha.

glad libby is taking to the bottle well and that you got that much milk! that is great, esp after a feeding.
ummm yeah, it's really weird and i still think it looks weird, though not as much as the very first time. you should have seen us in the hospital... we both started cracking up and since i was still healing from the c-section, I was hunched over in pain from laughing but i just couldn't help it! it's just so funny seeing your nipple getting sucked in and out of the flanges!!

I love breastfeeding. I hate pumping. I feel so much like a machine when I'm pumping and less like a mother. Breastfeeding is such a wonderful, loving experience and pumping is NOT! I pump at work 5 times in my shift and each time I have to remind myself that I'm doing it for Bella and it's SO worth it.
I'm glad pumping went well for you and I'm even happier that Libby took the bottle. That was a PITA for us! Bella is SO picky! I would keep offering it to her every few days, even if its only an ounce and then you follow up with nursing.. that way she stays used to it. Good luck and way to go!
