Is this eco-friendly?

My coworker and I were talking about aluminum free deodorants and she mentioned she uses this.  Is this eco-friendly (despite the fact the link is to Walmart)?

I have not decided if I am ready to make my own yet or not and I find the price of Tom's and others I see completely outrageous.

Re: Is this eco-friendly?

  • it is a "0" on the cosmetic database.  However, even though it is a "crystal" is is salt and can (it looks like this one) still contain alums.....I would research the ingredients yourself.  I found a good deodorant on etsy that has no salts or alums and I may also try to make it myself.
  • Which one did you find on Etsy?
  • I know you said you don't want toms of maine, but their clear liquid spray deodorant works amazingly well.  I've used the calendula scent and you could easily dilute it and still find it effective.  That said, it's been a while, and i don't remember the ingredient.  It is deodorant and not antiperspirant, so it is unlikely to have aluminum.

  • The hidden aluminum in potassium alum scares me enough not to think it's the best...but I think it's better than many out there. I just switched from KMF Liquid Rock to Jason Lavendar...aluminum free!
