Hotels in Myrtle Beach

DH and I are looking into vacationing in Myrtle Beach this summer. I've never been, and have been looking at hotel deals on Expedia. All hotels sort of look the same, and I have no idea what I'm choosing. Does anyone know of any great places to stay in Myrtle Beach?  We're on a tight budget.

Re: Hotels in Myrtle Beach

  • I don't know how budget friendly it is, but we had a recent weekend getaway there and had an amazing room at the Embassy Suites. It is a nice hotel, quiet, and right on the beach. It has several pools as well.
  • How long will you be there? The Avista (north myrtle) is pretty good on a budget, also in North Myrtle Towers On The Grove is nice.  It's a little more expensive than the Avista but it's a little nicer too.

If you can afford it, North Beach Plantation is out of this world.  It was built in condos to all be sold, and they started before the market crash so MOST of their buyers were unable to get their financing since when it was time to close the condos weren't worth nearly what they had agreed on.

Despite it's inauspicious start, the place is absolutely amazing and hands down the best place to stay at MB.  They rent out the condos, fully furnished, a week at a time. When you break it down by night, it's pretty affordable, plus you'll have a full kitchen so you can eat many meals in to save money.

If you want to be in Myrtle Beach proper, I recommend the Anderson Ocean Club.

Good luck, let us know what you decide.

  • Thanks ladies. I will check them out. We are planning on staying in Myrtle the entire time we're there, but also heading to Charleston. It looks like it's only about an hour's drive down the coast. I'd prefer to just stay at one hotel if possible. I'm going to look at Expedia again and see if  I can find those places you've all mentioned.

  • Ok, let us know. Some of us are in Chas, so we can help you out with that trip if you wish.
  • I'm from the area & you're going to find a lot of you get what you pay for during the summer. If you want to be right in the center of the action, you may want to check out Compass Cove. If you want to venture down to Surfside Beach or Garden City, you'll be about 10 minutes south of all of the action, and it's a lot more relaxed. The nicest hotel in Surfside is going to be the Holiday Inn Oceanfront. Or you may want to check out a hotel in Garden City, which is about 2-3 more minutes south. Like I said, you'll get what you pay for in the summer, so just keep that in mind when you're looking!! Hope this helps!
