Hi- I'm planning a trip to Nashville in early March for a work conference. I will be staying at the Opryland Hotel from 3/3-3/7. My hubby will be joining me from Thurs night (late) to Sunday. I have been once before, but my husband has never been. I'm a big country fan, him- not so much, but is open to anything. Any suggestions on places we should check out (night life, restaurants, tours, etc)?
TIA!
Re: Nashville Suggestions
I live in Franklin, which is south of Nashville if you aren't familiar, and have some suggestions:
I'm not real familiar with anything country specifically but I do have some great places to visit that are awesome.
The Parthenon located in West End in Centennial Park is a to-scale version of the real Parthenon. You can even go inside and it is a museum and has a to-scale replica of Athena.
I would also suggest eating at the Pancake Pantry which is located near Vanderbilt University. The pancakes are OUT OF THIS WORLD, nothing like you have ever tasted before!
have fun!
I've never been because I'm an old fart... but for night life I would go to lower Broadway.
For things to do see/ Centennial Park (parthenon), Belle Meade Plantation/Cheekwood/The Hermitage (Pres. Andrew Jackson's home).
You might want to see who is playing at the Ryman (the old grand ole opry site) or the new one (out by the hotel).
If you have a car, Franklin is a very cute little downtown with a lot of history. It is the site of the bloodiest battle of the civil war.
