BBQ sauce

we've transitioned to mostly natural, organic foods/food products. however we are quite attached to our sweet baby ray's bbq sauce which contains high fructose corn syrup. any recommendations for a better for you bbq sauce?? oh and I don't want to make my own. not yet. like the conveinence of it just being there ready to go. TIA!

Re: BBQ sauce

  • I've had one from trader joes that was good (but you'll have to check the lable; i'm not sure of the ingredients).  I think they have 3 varieties, and we liked one of them well, but not the other one we tried.  (Maybe that's not as helpful as i'd anticipated...)

  • The only bbq sauce that I can find without HFCS is from trader joes or other "natural" grocery stores. I also love sweet baby rays but the TJ's one isn't bad at all.

  • I love Sweet Baby Ray's too. I recently bought this one, and it's pretty good. I don't know if it's available in Boston or not. Also, it has sodium benzoate as a preservative -- not sure how you feel about that.

eta: hm, that link just  goes to the homepage. Anyway, it's Rumboggies Sweet Hickory Bar-B-Que sauce.

  • My husband always makes his own. It really isn't hard. If you would like the recipe let me know and I will get it for you. It is all good ingredients and pretty simple.

  • I echo the sentiment on maing your own. It is quite easy and if you double the batch you'll have plenty on hand. It doesn't really go bad.

  • I wouldn't mind trying the recipe if you're willing to share Smile

  • I love Bone Suckin' Sauce. But, I also usually mix store bought bbq sauce with other ones and other ingredients - I feel like that gives the best sauce.
