The bad things just keep rolling in...

Well, I just lost my position as an orthopedic nurse because of my injury, and the fact that Alliance says I have a 25 pound lifting restriction. (Which I have been working around this whole time). They are going to "try" to find me another position in the hospital, but if they can't, then I don't have a job right now. I am so upset.

Re: The bad things just keep rolling in...

  • Aren't you in a union? If so, they can't not give you a position. And if they dont' have one, you'll get disability right? Don't get too worked up yet. Talk to your union rep or HR person. I know how stressful it is to have an uncertain employment future. Hang in there.

  • something seems off there.  when was the weight restriction gouing to become an issue?  and wasn't the injury work related?  they can't get rid of you over an injury.  i agree with lindsay.....talk to hr, and also bring up workmans comp.

good luck an keep us posted.

oh, and i think my neighbor, melissa,  is a nurse in orthopedics.

  • Yeah I told my boss when I first found out that I was pregnant that my OB said I had a weight restriction, she said that I could just use my PCTs to help me lift so that I could keep working--so atleast I did tell her that I had one. The HR lady said I would have to go on leave if she couldn't find me a position. Well, I get paid nothing for 'leave' and disability doesn't pay much from what I am heard. Maybe I'm snobby, but I'm not accepting anything less than 100% compensation...its not like I was acting inappropriately and got hurt, I was walking down the dang hall trying to get my patient some grape juice and a bag of IV fluid! LOL.
  • That so sucks!  Damn grape juice!

  • Next time, make your patient get YOU some grape juice. You're the pregnant one.
