Anyone planning some big landscapijg projects this spring?
We are planning to landscape our backyard...and are looking for inspiration. Or maybe thoughts on the best way to sketch it out....maybe a landscaping polyvore type site? Anyone know of any?
Re: Anyone planning some big landscapijg projects this spring?
We're planning on re-landscaping the east and west walls of our house. Modifying an existing bed on the west side and creating a new bed along the east of the house and a stepping-stone path to the backyard. It'll be fairly labor-intensive, but good to get done.
If you're making major changes, I would highly recommend creating a current landscape plan, with existing beds, electrical & utilities, etc. That will help a LOT in the long run.
ETA: For inspiration we usually would spend an afternoon on various weekends at the bookstore and flip thru various books, magazines, etc. Better Homes & Garden's website also was a great resource.

We're creating a bunch of flower beds. The original owners probably had flower beds there but the second owners let everything go. The current flower beds have no edging, no mulch, no landscaping fabric, lots of erosion, and are all weeds. For now we're focusing on the front where we have two 25x5' long flower beds in front of the house and a 3 tiered rock wall along the driveway. The rock wall garden we are going to extend past where the wall ends to include a shady spot where our grass doesn't go well. We want to put a wide path there with natural stones and Irish moss. The whole bed will be 35' long and 8-19' deep including the rocks. Here's a picture of just the rock wall portion after we cleared it out last year:
As far as inspiration goes check out this site:

There is a garden design and landscaping with rocks forum as well as lots of galleries. The search function also works very well if you're looking for something specific.
