Name change / tax question

I have updated my SIN card with my new last name.

Do I need to do anything special to notify the CRA that I've updated my name, or can I just file my tax return using my new name?

ETA: in the tax software, I did check the box where it asks if you've changed your name in the last year.

I ended up having to call them to get it changed...I don't know if thats normal or not.  When we did my taxes, we typed in my new name, but at the end of my return, the old one turned up.  For a long time, all corresspondance from them still had my old name, until I called them.

Hmm I'm still using my old name on my taxes  - that's the only place I'm still using my old name. I think you change your name online for taxes on the CRA website if you have an e-pass.. which reminds me I should do that

All I have ever done for myself or clients is filed my return with my new name.  I've never had a problem.

Please tell us as soon as possible if your name changes.

If you change only your first name or last name, call 1-800-959-8281 to advise us of your name change.
