cw, i have some questions.

reading through your blog --

what is the difference between making cake balls and making buckeyes?  both involve a lot of touching.  a lot.

also, do you never go to restaurants?  there's a lot of food touching there. a lot.  A Lot.  A LOT.

Re: cw, i have some questions.

  • mmmmm Buckeyes.  I may have to make some to keep in the freezer.  I haven't had a homemade buckeye in eons.
  • I do not touch the buckeyes either. I wear gloves Embarrassed Other people (like my mom) touch them, but I'm oddly okay with that. I just don't like touching them.

    Also...cake balls are...wet. ick.

And I like do go to restuarants and force myself not to think about the touching. I've explained this before, but my reasoning is that there is *someone* looking in at restaurants to make sure everything is sanitary (even though I know that's often not the case, it reassures me)

  • buckeys are wet, too.

btw, why do you press the mixture between plates?  it sounds like it can just be rolled out, like some bizarre dough.  or you can use gloves to roll them.

  • I don't press it between plates, I place some (baseball size) on a glass plate, then put plastic wrap on top and use my hands to manually flatten it out. It's really sticky and gross, so you couldn't use a rolling pin (I guess you could if you used the saran wrap over the top of the dough) and it's sticky enough to stick to a cutting board so that's why I used a plate instead.

  • and buckeyes aren't nearly as moist as cake balls.

    .
  • due to this moistness discussion, i am now thoroughly turned off by both cake balls and buckeyes.

    image
  • right?! That's why I avoided them for so long. But really, they're not too moist to be uncomfortable, hmo. they still require chewing.
    image
  • sure -- chewing up your HAND GERMS.

  • not mine. Remember? Plates and saran wrap.
