Pregnant ladies please come in...

Did you chart your BBT and do the whole keeping track of the CM thing?  H and I have been planning to start trying to have a little Clou well right about now but I'm not so sure about the charting thing.  I get the concept it is just that I'm concerned that it doesn't work like people say it does.  What is your suggestion for the most effective method?  Does keeping up with your CM matter or can you do it on BBT alone?  I'm kinda thinking of just having a month of every other night baby making but man that seems like too much work as I am super lazy. lol

  • Yes, I did it.  It's really not hard at all.  We took a class on NFP before we got married but there are non-religious books you can read that will also be helpful.  Most girls on the bump suggest reading Taking Charge Of Your Fertility.  Another helpful resource was the website fertilityfriend.com.  It was a good program that was easy to use.  And to answer your question, yes, tracking CM is just as important as tracking your BBT.

Hope that was helpful.  If you have any other specific questions, I'll be glad to try and help!

One of my friends did this the month she got her BFP.  Her next step was to try charting but apparently every other day is all she needed.

I know, right. lol  I was just picking....do you really think I'm going to do that every other day for a month?  I mean H probably would go for that but I don't think I would make it past day 3.

Anyhow thanks for the info Shoe it was helpful and if I think of any other questions I will let you know.

Shoe can vouch for me that this method works

  • :: thinking thinking thinking ::  Got it!  I will just do both at the same time so I can learn how to chart in the case that it doesn't work right away.  I mean one month is one thing but I could not continue on that path for longer than that. lol  There is a such thing as too much sex...
  • I used fertility friend online, and I really liked it. But it's hard not to stare at it sometimes to get the "answers"

You are officially my hero.  Like I said I'm lazy but I'm going to give it a go.  Wish me luck!  Wink

Everything Shoe said!  I started charting to get the hang of it in March, and we didn't start TTC until August.  It really is much easier than most make it out to be.  I set my phone to go off at 5:30 every morning, so I could wake up, temp, and then go back to sleep.  That way my temp was taken at the same time every morning.

  • It couldn't be easier.  You wake up, temp, go back to sleep.  It's as simple as that.

I chart b/c it's the only way to know that you actually ovulated.  OPKs and checking CM only tell you you're about to, but neither mean you actually did.  I also do it b/c I love knowing what's going on with my body (when did I ovulate, when will AF be here, etc.)

  • Everyone pretty much covered everything. I used fertilityfriend.com for my chart. We were TTA and got a big surprise, I had a couple of off days with temps and tada BFP! But, we're very happy.
