Hi Ladies! I know we mentioned this in previous post, but my DH have set our timeline for TTC this year. With our uncertain economy, I've tried to gather as much info for the first five years as possible. Are any of you in the same spot? Have you found any useful blogs or websites for local mommies to be?
Thanks for any tips!

Re: TTC in 2010
Hi Melissa! We are going to start trying in September once we have our credit card paid off. I haven't been on BC for years, I track my cycle on yourdays.com. With the $ we pay to our cc each month, that'll cover the SUV we are going to buy before the baby is born, baby items, and daycare. I am looking into my insurance copays & deductibles now for delievery and the hubs just took a job that has great medical rates for families. I know how many weeks maternity I get at full pay & the weeks at 35% pay, we are going to save the difference so we are not short on cash. I've been gathering prices of everything (maternity clothes, baby furniture, breast pump, clothes/diapers).
I have been lurking on the bump boards, all the way from trying to get pregnant to the trimester boards to the baby boards to the working moms board. I've also looked at a lot of the blogs from the ladies on the bump.

We're thinking of starting in October 2010. I just picked up my first pack of prenatal vitamins and DH and I were freaking out because it seemed so real!
To prepare, we just paid off my car, we're paying off the last CC and bulking up savings. I am working out and trying to lose weight, and I called the closest daycare to see how much they charge. We also want to take one more fun vacation and get a fence.
We may put it off until Spring 2011, but I'm pretty sure we'll try this year. EEK!
Wow! I keep telling the DH that I may want to try after my birthday in June. I haven't done any of the things you guys have mentioned. Should I be off the birth control by now? Should I start prenatel vitamens now and talk to a doctor about TTC? I tried to talke to my internist a little about this (she does my PAPs), but she wan't really helpful. I am way behind!
Sometimes it takes awhile for your body to regulate after BC, so you might want to stop sooner than later and just use a back-up till then. Prenatals can be taken anytime. I would suggest starting now so they can build up a little in your system before June. Check out the Getting Pregnant board for more info (especially the link at the top).

I agree. We're beginning in August and went off birth control in January. We will schedule some general health exams and start prenatal vitamins in March. I have just started posting on the GP board and they're super helpful. I also just got the book Taking Charge of Your Fertility which is recommended on GP a lot. You can also chart on www.fertilityfriend.com for free.
If you like to plan things out like me, I've started researching as much as possible so I don't have to stress as much while preggers. That's not to say it's at all necessary, just my personal preference.
My husband & all his friends turn 30 this year so we're all going on a cruise together in October. So we are gonna start TTC on the cruise since we wanted one last big vacay before babies. Our best friends are going to try at the same time in hope that her & i can be pregnant together so we can b*tch about it to someone and then have our kids be friends
We just paid off 5 credit cards & only have 1 left and we're doing some minor reno's to the house and have a modest savings so we feel like we will be set as long as nothing major happens between now & Oct. If it does we will reassess our sitch.
