Looking for mommy friends
Re: Looking for mommy friends
i've had a tough time making new friends since moving to IL. I met one girl here on the nest and my other friend is the wife of a former co-worker.
I need more friends. I need someone to shop with!
I was so in the boat with you ladies when I moved. Although I get along great with my DH's co-worker wives... they are not *my* friends. My co-workers and I aren't exactly in the same relm of life, and our neighbors could be my grandparents. Good neighbors for neighbors.
My secret... I joined the Junior League. Wish I had done it sooner! Someone else mentioned it on The Nest on another board long long time ago and I looked into it... and tada!
I just want to add that there are several mommy groups that are mentioned online. Search on Google and FB. Things that come to mind: Moms of Preschoolers (aka MOPS), Moms on the Move, Meetup.com, Newcomer's Club, Stroller groups, etc... I saw a few listed when I did a quick google search. Also search more than just Dport, but Moline/Rock Island as well. Groups may not be called "Quad Cities ABC" or whatever. I know people stick to one side of the river in reality... but you won't know what you like or what's out there until you see!
To anyone in the Peoria area: http://www.peoriaparent.com
Also look into the Jaycees and Young Professionals Organization. I know you are in the QC, but the ones in Peoria are great ways to meet others in the area.
Best of luck... let us know how it goes!
