I did it!

So I got up the courage to make the appointment!  We will be going for the consult on the 8th!  Ok now it is done and I can stop stressing about that stress at least.  The first consult is free and only 20 min and the next one is $200 gulp!  So now I can return to my favorite worry topic money (oh the joys)

Thanks Elise for the moral support I needed that.  I think I will check in with a friend who had their child in a home daycare which only does Newton teacher's kids and see what that costs.  The plus to that is that they do teacher's hours 7-4 and are closed on school vacations so that I don't have to pay for times I will be home in the summer ect.  That will either put me over the edge calm me down we will just have to see.

Off to school today to start setting up the classroom. Yikes summer is almost over...so sad!

  • yesss! let us know how it goes :)

another option to consider for flexibility and lower cost is having a SAHM nanny.  These are moms who want to stay at home w/ thier children but are also looking to watch other children to bring in some extra income.  i think its a really great idea and its a route we're seriously considering since we wont need full-time, they will come to your home, and costs are often very reasonable. hth!

  • Congratulations!

Another option is a nanny share. You find another family that needs childcare as well and co-hire a nanny.  That way you can split the costs and your child will be in a low child:adult ratio and they could be in your home (some families choose one of the home and some alternate.)  This is the option we would have gone with if we hadn't of had twins! :)  No one wants to take care of 3 babies! :)

    Good luck!

  • Hooray!

Childcare is incredibly expensive.  My mother has a home daycare, and it sounds like so much money, but then when you divide it into an hourly wage - it makes sense.  That teacher-ony daycare sounds great! Good luck :-)
