I can't find the original post, but the back story. We bought a couch and were supposed to have it delivered within days. After a week the company hadn't called us to schedule delivery, even after I called twice. Once they called we scheduled delivery for 14 days after the intial purchase. The next day we decided to cancel the order. I was told the manager would call me back, he did a few hours later and I just told him that I wanted it cancelled. He said he would have to check to see if that was possible and would call me the next day. (This was a Sunday) On Thursday he called me and said that they would cancel but charge a $484 restocking fee. The buyers order I signed said nothing about restocking fees.
I called my credit card company that same Thursday to dispute the charge and was told they would send out paperwork. After another 10 days, (I gave more than a week due to snow) I called them again since I hadn't recieved the paperwork. I was told it would be sent again. 8 days go by nothing, so John called this morning and they are now saying we have a "weak dispute".
What should we do? The couch is fine and will work, but it's not exactly what we want. So if we have to take delivery then we do. But the buyer's order specifically says, "no returns on merchandise after buyer has accepted delivery". We never accepted delivery and now I feel our credit card isn't helping us.
What would you do? Between this and my insurance company once again denying my doctor's charges from my miscarriage in September, I don't know how much fight I have left in me
Re: Need Advice
Eesh..can you threaten the sales guy with a strong worded letter to the BBB?

Geez!!! That restocking fee is ridonkulous! Most couches don't cost much more than that!
I have no advice for you, if I HAD to pay that fee, I'd just go ahead and get hte couch delivered and be done with it and know not to use that business in the future. And I'd badmouth the heck out of them.
