"lady doctor" (gyn) It's that time and I hate going to a random doctor (or NP). I have ODS so they have a pretty decent network...female preferred.

Thanks ladies!

  • I go to Dr. Meg Hayes at OHSU's Family Medicine for everything. They have a whole list of great doctors there so if I can't see her there is always someone else available. But most of the time I can plan ahead and schedule an appointment with her.
  • I go to Judith Kemp. She's in Orenco Station in Hillsboro. Really nice, really patient and every time I've gone in it's really quick (which is nice, hate waiting around)
  • Thanks all!! :)

  • I don't actually see a lady doctor.  The naturopath I see focuses on women's issues (as well as allergies and asthma so she was a two-for-one deal Smile), so I just saw her last time I was due and was totally comfortable.

  • I love mine, she's at Providence St. Vincents in the Columbia Women's Clinic.  Dr. Lisa Thum, one or two other ladies on thebump boards go to her as well.  I think from all these great recommendations you'll probably narrow down based on where they are located, or whomever works with your insurance you have a lot to choose from. Good luck, I hope you find someone you are comfortable with.  I know when we moved I was worried about finding an obgyn I was as comfortable with as the one I had in California, so I felt really lucky when I got Dr. Thum.

Ditto this. She is A.W.E.S.O.M.E. I can't rave about her enough! She feels more like a friend than a doctor, and she was so so so awesome during my exam, made me feel completely comfortable. TMI but she even asked if I wanted to see my cervix haha! She also let me listen to my heart murmor which no doctor has ever even asked if I wanted to do! I love Naturopaths and especially Dr. Wood! She's also great with responding to e-mail...I just e-mailed her yesterday because I'm having neck issues!

ETA: DH recently started going to her, too for a wart that he's had on his foot for 2+ years Ick! - he hates doctor and hasn't been to one in about 6 years...until I finally convinced him to go to Dr. Wood...and he loves her!

naturopath does sounds interesting to me, since I'm into that kind of thing but have a question (s). This may be TMI but I have to ask...does she do regular Paps? Would she perscribe BC pills? Does she work with insurance. Yes, I'm sure I can call and get these answers, but I perfer to ask my nesties first! (and can't make this kind of call at work-way too quiet!)

Agreed! naturopaths are trained in EVERYTHING MDs do...and then in addition they're trained in whole body stuff and gyn stuff, etc....so they learn even more in school than medical doctors :)

She even prescribed me my migraine pills to have on hand for when I do get migraines...we're in the process of getting to the root on the problem and working with things like magnesium to prevent them, but she agrees that when I DO get a migraine it's okay to take my maxalt so I can actually have a day!

Also...I mentioned that I emailed her yesterday...well she just called and said that if I could make it in today she'd do some soft tissue work on my neck...unfortunately I can't because I'm about to take my dog to the groomer, BUT it's awesome that she's so ready and willing to help out whenever :) Love it!

  • I highly recommend going to a naturopath, too!  I used to see one and LOVED her.  She no longer practices, though.
