What do you and your wives do for a living?
Do you like it?
What college did you attend? What is your degree in?
I'll start.
I am a Admin for a staffing agency. Yes, I love it. I love meeting someone new everyday, and helping them better their lives by finding work.
I attend the Art Institute of Portland, and I am working on a degree in Interior Design.
Julie, does Tech Support/Graphic Design/Web Design for HP. She adores her job. She graduates from ITT Tech in November with a Graphics Degree.

Re: QOTD:
I am a social worker at a children's hospital and I really like it. I love the area where I work (outpatient.) My days are always different, I like helping people, and I really like the people I work with. of course there are days when I pull my hair out!
Plus, I love that no one really knows what I do, so I am more or less my own boss.
I went to George Mason Univ for undergrad (developmental psych) and Virginia Commonwealth Univ for grad school (social work.) And I have a graduate certificate in non-profit management from George Mason Univ (that I am currently not using!)
My wife is an organizational development/instructional design consultant for the US government. She loves it - but hates her commute (45 miles each way!)
She went to Tennessee Tech for undergrad, North Alabama Univ for grad, and Virginia Tech for her PhD.
Alison
mom to Grayson and Carter (5.18.06)
I am a Admin for the housekeeping department a local hospital. I love it, my only problem is my mom has worked at this hospital since before I was born so EVERYONE knows me already and everything she's already told them all lol.
I haven't gone to school since high school, but am seriously thinking or going soon (I know im 28 but I still don't know what to be when I grow up)
Nik works at Barnes and Noble right now, but is trying to get in at a local brewery and start her tattoo apprenticeship. She loves her job, the idea of the job she's trying for and her future job lol.
She also hasn't gone to school, but the apprenticeship will be her school
I'm a toxic tort litigation consultant with an insurance company...which basically means that I manage high dollar lawsuits for companies who purchase insurance with us. I really enjoy it. I'm 98% self-managed so I have a flexible schedule (work from home 1 day/week) and never feel as though I have someone breathing down my back. The company is also very supportive of a work/home balance which is great for our future family plans. The only downside is the required travel.
I went to UCONN for undergrad (child psychology) and Fairfield University for my masters (school psychology). Next up will be my MBA...i'm looking around for a good online program.
My wife is an office manager in the rehab department of a skilled nursing facility (nursing home). She loves it. She's wonderful at working with seniors and they absolutely adore her. She also has a great group of coworkers and is allowed to make her own hours (again, great for our TTC/family plans).
She recieved her undergrad degree from Eastern Connecticut State University in physical education.
clearly neither of us are using our degrees....but, they'll come in handy with our own children

What do you and your wives do for a living? Do you like it?
I am an admin at an investment bank. I do not like it. It's not a bad job, it's just really not my thing. I do like admin work - I landed here after my old office relocated to somewhere I couldn't commute to and I needed something else ASAP, but hopefully I will leave soon enough to do something (anything! haha) part-time).
C is an accountant. This is her last week in public accounting. She starts next week with a bio-tech/pharma company as a Senior Accountant. She grew weary of public (as many accountants do!), and is really looking forward to her switch. Overall, she really likes what she does and is great at it. She's a super business-minded gal and I love that about her.
What college did you attend? What is your degree in?
We both went to the University of Pittsburgh (where we met). C's bachelors is in Accounting, and the only degree I have is my MRS. ;-) I didn't have the patience for 4-years of undergrad and couldn't justify spending the money on something I knew I wouldn't use. This fall C is going to start working on her Masters at UMASS Boston - she is a CPA in Pennsylvania, but needs more education hours to get her certification here in MA.

I am an 8th grade Earth Science teacher and I love my job. Although right now I am dreading the summer being over. I have been in to school for the last few days for an hour or two to start setting up and I am enjoying being in my classroom and feeling like a teacher again.
I got my BS in biology from Simmons college (small women's college in Boston) which I use kind of but since I teach mostly geology astronomy and meterology I don't use it so much. I have a M ed. (masters in education) from Harvard. I throw around going back either fom my PhD in educational policy or getting a second masters in Geoscience teaching. I may just take grad classes to get my Masters plus 30 which would be a large pay jump.
S is project manager at an educational publishing co. She has her undergrad in psych. from St Michael's in VT. She doesn't love her job but a gal has to make some cash to pay the bills
she plays with robots all night. she's also a licensed firefighter and emt and is on the volunteer squad where she works. i?m in hr at a school. i don?t have to do the icky stuff, though.
we both like what we do alright. i really like where i work more than what i do, but i don?t mind it.
she?s taken some college classes, but doesn?t have a degree. she started as an art student and has taken some fire science classes. she?s done tons and tons of training and classes through work. i have a degree in american sign language interpreting and am working on my associate of arts.
I am a freelance professional dancer and ballet teacher. I love my job! Dancing and children are both a passion of mine. So put them together and i have the perfect job. My wife is a professional makeup artist and an aspiring professional hairdresser. She loves to make people over. She says it's the making people feel good about themselves that she loves the most.
Neither of us attended traditional college. I went to a professional dance school (Alvin Ailey) for 3 years after highschool and from then on starting dancing professionally. I am now recieving a certificate of ballet teaching studies from the Royal Academy of Dance in London, England (distance learning). My wife went to cosmetology school in NYC and when we move to ATL will be attending the Paul Mitchell School.
I'm the evening and night shift supervisor in a hospital laboratory. Most days I like what I do, I just don't like where I do it. I work in what is essentially a charity hospital, and they consistantly want us to do more with less. It gets more stressful everyday.
Carol works for our local county Sherriffs office. She is currently switching positions with them (as soon as the freeholders approve her raise) so her job is changing, but she loves it there.
I went to St Cloud State University in MN and The Medical Institue of MN
Carol went to Mount St. Mary's in New York and majored in history.

I work for a major university as an administrator at their nursing school. Its ok. I did my master's in higher ed here (I have an undergrad in engineering from texas A&M) and am currently working on a doctorate part time. The decent tuition remission and supportive office make more boring job mostly worth it.
C is a mechanical engineer currently working for a small biotech. She needs a new job though before this company goes under. She has a dual undergrad in engineering and art from StLouis U and a masters in engineering from VA Tech.
Me: I'm a Special Events Coordinator for a non-profit. I love planning events but have grown very tired of the non-profit world. I went to one of the schools in the University of California system and my degree is in Psychology.
K: Currently she is a Ph.D student and a professor at two universities. Both her BA and MA are from California schools. She loves teaching and after a lifetime of searching has found her final career.
I'm a psychiatrist and professor at McMaster University in Hamilton, Ontario, near Toronto. I work 3 days per week on an assertive community treatment team (we provide interdisciplinary care in the community for people with severe and persistent mental illness), 1 day per week on a dual diagnosis team (providing care for people with developmental disabilities and mental health issues) and 1 day per week I'm working on program development for an LGBT mental health clinic. As a professor with the university, I teach and supervise medical students and psychiatry residents. I just started my job 1 month ago (after 13 years of postsecondary education) and it's a huge adjustment from being a student to being in independent practice, but I'm loving it so far.
I went to McMaster University for my undergraduate degree in Biology and Psychology, The University of Western Ontario (in London, Ontario) for medical school, and then back to McMaster for my residency program in psychiatry.
Lisa is a registered nurse in the emergency room department at a local hospital. She loves her work - she loves the fast pace and the fact that every day is different, you never know what is going to happen in an ER. She's done other sorts of nursing before, but ER is certainly her calling.
