I saw you honeymooned in Riviera Maya, Mexico...what resort did you stay at?? We're going to Riviera Maya for our 1 yr anniv trip in June, that's why I wondered. We're staying at the Grand Sirenis AI.
Re: *futuremrsamador*
OMG, you'll love it down there!! We want to go back someday!
We stayed at Aventura Spa Palace and it was amazing. The only thing we didn't like (and we knew this going into it) was that it didn't have a real beach. We went to a real one though a couple times.
I've never heard of Grand Sirenis Al. but I'm sure it's amazing! Is it all inclusive? Ours was and I swear that's def. the way to go!!
Oh, you guys will be in heaven!!
AI is def. the way to go...you don't have to carry around $ and you can eat and drink as much as you want. haha We def. took advantage of it. We ordered room service almost every night. haha Gosh, I really want to go back now and I'm super jealous you're going for your 1 year. We moved here the day after our 1 year so we didn't get to do anything really cool! :-(
When is your 1 year?
We might just hold off until our 10th and then do a big renual of the vows in Jamaica or something. Not sure yet!
Wow, that's so close! EEEEK! lol And then you're moving here, right?
Ooooo, that sounds sweet as well! I think that'd be so much fun & more relaxing than your initial wedding. You're just so stressed & want everything to be perfect for the wedding.
Well I'm glad you think so, but it seems so far away yet to me! We've had a fairly crappy winter up here & it just seems to be dragging so much. It doesn't help I hate the cold though. Yes, that's the plan...move to AZ in the summer. I'm hoping everything works out well for us & we can both find jobs.
Yeah, cold weather does suck that's why we got out of NY too! lol
Don't worry....I'm sure everything will work out. It seems to always do! You know you have us girls here, at least! :-)
You're going to LOVE it here!!! It was 75, I think today! AWESOME!
It sure does! It's so depressing. I never even wanna go outside or anything, cuz it goes right through me. I sure hope everything works out for us. I'm sure it will in one way or another. I can't wait to meet you all! Everyone seems so nice & that's great that you have GTGs often. I'm sure we will absolutely LOVE it there! 75?? That is awesome! It was like 30 here today & snowing.
Have you found a house yet?!?
I love the GTG's too and now that we have the meetup group, we have them more often. It's fun!
I agree that the cold is VERY depressing. My Mom is still in NY and they are getting pounded with the snow now. I feel bad but laugh a little! lol I told her to move here but I don't think that's going to happen!
We found one we love but we're still waiting to hear back about our offer. It's a Short Sale so who knows how long it's going to take. If we don't hear anything within the next week and a half, we're going to start looking again but keep our offer in. I wish they'd just say yes or no. lol
Yes, it sure is. I heard they're getting the snow now. They missed it a few weeks ago though, didn't they? (When the DC, Philly, & MD areas got hit w/over 2 feet). Well it's been "snowing" here, but not laying now for 2 days. It's just blustery & cold! That must be hard being away from your fam. That's one of the things I'm a lil worried about. I keep trying to talk my Dad & Mom into moving too, but they won't. My Mom would never leave her grandkids she has here...even if my DH & I have one in AZ. I'm sure it'll be hard when we do decide to have a baby.
Well that's exciting!! I sure hope you hear back soon. I def. think that would be the most frustrating part about the home-buying process...waiting for an answer. I'm afraid we'll run into that too when we go to get a house. It looks like most all of the houses out there are bank or lender-owned. Too bad you couldn't bug them a lil & make them give you an answer. I'm sending good house vibes/thoughts your way!
Yes, they did miss all the snow when DC, Philly and MD were getting it.
It is hard being away from my family but it's actually A LOT easier than I thought. I was terrified to leave but I adjusted very well and I think it helps that the sun shines almost every day here! :-) Once you get out here, we'll have to get together sometime. It's always nice meeting "new" people since we're in the same boat!
My mom won't ever move here either because she has a boyfriend, my brother, and her house back there. I'm going to work on it though...maybe some day. I'm the only one who can give her grandkids so she has to move here, right?! haha I think I'll have a tough time being away from her when we have our 1st child.
Yes, house hunting is exciting but here, it's very frustrating because most of them are Short Sales. At least if it was a Foreclosure, we'd hear within 10 days but they are so hard to find because they go off the market so fast! Our time will come...hopefully, esp. before the tax credit ends. lol And thanks for the vibes! :-)
Well that's good. At least they missed all that mess...so did we. I was so happy. We only got like 8" when some parts got like 3 ft!
I'm sure it is very hard being away from everyone. That's encouraging to hear that it's not as hard as you thought though. I think it'll help that we'll be able to keep ourselves a lot busier out there. It sucks here cuz DH is layed off work & has been for like ever & I work full time (diff. shifts & weekends), plus it's so crappy & cold outside most of the time, so it's hard to really get out & do much very often. I'd def. be up for meeting once we get there. It'll help to know we're both dealing w/some of the same things. Plus, from one of your survey things on here, it looks like we have quite a bit in common.
Maybe your Mom will think seriously about moving there once you get pregnant. You're trying now, aren't you?? Has she said anything about it? Have you tried Skype? I figure we'll prob. use that often once we get out there. It'll be a good way to be able to keep in touch & be able to "see" each other.
Oh no! I really was hoping we wouldn't have to deal w/a short sale. I don't mind the whole foreclosure thing either, but short sales are a BIG pain in the butt from what I've heard. Some of the realtors we've talked to around here have said about how awful it is working w/some of the banks & such, for those. I'm really hoping they extend the house credit again. They already have what like 3 times, so maybe we'll get lucky. There's just no way we could get out there & decide we want a place & get it by then. Keep me updated though. I really hope you hear something soon!
Yes, you will def. have a lot of things to do once you get here! You name it, it's here. That's one thing I love about this area. The small town I'm from didn't have anything cool to do. lol
Yes, we are TTC now. My Mom knows about it...I can't keep anything from her. lol She's super excited about it too We've done Skype a few times, it's pretty cool.
Yeah, I'm hoping they extend the tax credit too becuase it's not looking very hopeful for us to make the deadline. I don't know why they wouldn't extend it again?! Thanks...we hope to hear something soon too!
I know & that's sooo exciting...one of the things I'm looking forward to the most. The town I grew up in is tiny & has nothing but churches & bars, lol. There's quite a bit of stuff w/in an hour, but who wants to drive an hour one way all the time just to have something interesting to do?!?
How exciting! Good luck...I hope it all goes well for you. And maybe eventually you'll get your Mom to change her mind. I'm excited to try out Skype. Although I hate being videotaped, I think it'll be a great way to keep in touch & still see our relatives.
The house-hunting process is so frustrating! I'm really not looking forward to getting into it again. Though I CANNOT WAIT to have a house!! Living in a small apt. w/most of your stuff in a storage shed, is not fun! I just hope the gov't doesn't decide that they've "run out of money" & can't do the tax credit again. I guess we'll see here in a few months.
