this new format.

some questions:

why doesn?t it send you emails when you?re watching a post without having to set it to email you every time anything new is posted for the entire board? i really liked that feature. i don?t want an email for every single little thing, but i don?t want to have to come back and watch posts and click into them again and again just to see new replies. i don?t want to be a crazy stalker! is there some place where they have all the new responses to the threads you?re watching or what? am i missing something? is this just a glitch they?re working on?

also: i?m really not digging the way it shows threads that you?ve already read. it was so much easier to tell on the old format when the title of the post was either bold or it wasn?t. those little page icons on the side are really not that easy to see, especially on my little laptop screen. and the starred posts don?t fade, even if you?ve read all the replies. what is up with that?

i do like the quote and preview functions and all that, and the relaxed censoring. i wonder if we can say *** now?

ok. i just felt like complaining a little is all. carry on.

Re: this new format.

  • so apparently we can be bitches but not queers. that's great.
  • oh! so we can be queers, but we have to be qu33r. ok. that makes sense.

excuse me while i fill up my own thread with responses and grumble about how long it's taking for things to post.

  • I don't know anything about the emails for watching posts - but I just go by the info on the right hand side, where it says who posted the most recent reply and when.

I agree that the bold/not bold page icons are a little harder to see - but on my work computer, the graphics won't work so I get a box with a red X that says "Read or Unread" in it.

As for censoring - I have no clue. I know they are just trying to keep things polite, but censorship of any kind is always tricky.

i know, but then to actually see what the reply is you have to go into the thread, which jacks up the views on posts and seriously skews the view count. i do like that it says who/when the most recent reply was, but it was so much easier to have yahoo messenger pop up and tell me i had a new email and go read it than it is to go back in and try to figure out which reply i read last and which i haven't seen yet.

    i'm just grumpy today.

  • Ah... I can see the difference.

  • In the end I don't think many people care about the view count.  There was a lot of fuss when the local boards switched over but now most of us are used to it.  I just ignore view count for the most part now as I know I entered the PCP/TTC post yesterday about 10 times, even if I only posted twice.
