paint color help

I'm not sure which way to go with our bedroom. So I thought I'd pick your minds.

This is our bedroom set. We bought all the pieces.

(i'd PIP if i wasn't at work. Sorry girls)

Our floors are a cherry red finish. And the color of our walls now is like a burnt orangey color. I really like it and didn't want to change it. But seeing it with the cherry-ish floor AND with the bedset almost having a cherry tint... I'm thinking we might need to go lighter. I don't think I like it with the blue like in the pic. And wanted something alittle more then white.

And don't even get me started on accessorizing the room... but I guess we'll start with the walls haha.

Re: paint color help

  • That's a beautiful set!  I think it would look nice with a sage green color.  You need something cooler to offset the warm tones in the flooring and furniture.

I was just about to suggest sage green, too!

  • Do you have a comforter/duvet for the bed? You will need to tie in all the colors. I know your living room is green....what about a grayish/blueish color. I love the colors in the picture with the dark furniture. Or maybe a tan color. You probably want to do something light since the floors & furniture are darker colors.
  • If you want to stay in the orange family, what about softening it to like a peach color?  I'm also a fan of shades of tan/gold.  I also like the green suggestion though.  Do you have a comforter set that you could use for inspiration color-wise?

Behr.com has a good colorwheel tool you can use online.

  • I was thinking a tan/gold color would look good.
  • My bedroom is the same color as the picture so my vote is that. :-) But maybe geen? Or like a tan?
  • Hmm, the green I'm picturing might be really nice. Thanks girls, you got my wheels turning! They obviously need a jump start here and there. ;-)

We have 2 sets that we mainly use. One is two differently shades of brown. And the other is a blue set. I better make sure any greens I pick look good with that blue though.

    Thanks again! :-)

As long as you pick a green with blue undertones instead of yellow you'll be OK.
