It seems as though several same-sex couples we know have a significant age difference and think nothing of it (my DP is 12.5 years older than me.) But among our hetero friends there are very few couples that have a significant age difference (more than a couple of years.)
Is there a significant age difference between you and your DP?

Ha! I love it.
No big difference for us - just 3 years.

T is 10 years older then me, it works because i tend to act like an old lady and she acts like shes in her early 20's. The only time it is at all a little weird is with the kids, people sometimes get confused because I'm only 22 and T's oldest is 11. When T isnt with us people sometimes think he's mine and i am "way to young to have a kid that age" lol
I beat you all!! ;-) I won't say the actual difference b/c I think people judge it without understanding. However for those of you who have met us, you can probably guess....well then again, everyone guesses K is about 7-10 yrs younger than she acutally is....
Anyway...it works perfectly for us. Not that it doesn't have it's challenges but I wouldn't really want it any other way. My parents are 13 yrs apart and I've always dated older individuals so it just seems natural to me.
Here at work there are 3 SS couples that I know of with significant age differences.
Our age difference is 13 years (she's older). We started dating when I was just shy of 30 and she was in her early 40s. I definitely think it matters less the older you are, like pps have said.
We met at work, and I was sorta her boss for a while (not formally, but she worked on projects for me), so I seemed older to her than I am and she seemed younger to me than she is. She said when she found out how old I was she felt like she should wash out her head for the thoughts she'd been having. lol.
Most of our good friends who are gay are men, and several of those couples have substantial age differences. I feel that a big age difference plays out differently for gay couples than it does for het couples. Like it's potentially less of an issue because the people in relationship start out on equal footing with each other, gender-wise. (Did that make any sense at all?)
