I decided on Burlington, VT

This is a place neither of us has been. I'm looking at hotels now and I'm finding brand name hotels which I'll most likely go with because I'm a hotel points junkie!

Any recommendations for what to do there/where to eat, etc......I'd love to go hiking one day and I'm sure there's hikes everywhere up there!

Re: I decided on Burlington, VT

  • Change of plans, I'm going with Bar Harbor! Any suggestions on there?
  • Oooooh I was just drafting up a ton of stuff for you in Burlington... the food is awesome Smile. Bar Harbor is great too! I have a few things... I just don't remember the names- I'll post it in a second.
  • There were 2 great sandwich shops-- one right on Main St and the other was on a street perpendicular to Main- organic and very good! I think one was Cafe This Way... had breakfast too.

It might be off season so a lot of places might still be closed. I bet it doesn't get going until Memorial Weekend. You might want to contact the tourism office to see what is open!

ETA: We ate at Testa's Restaurant-- pretty good! Didn't eat anywhere else. For touristy stuff, obviously Acadia w/Cadalliac Mountain.

I love Bar Harbor!! I used to work at the Harborside Hotel and Marina; beautiful hotel. One place that I really liked to eat when I was there doing my internship was Rupununi's on Main St. Really good appetizers and cocktails.

And during low tide, you can walk along the sand bar behind the hotel and walk to an island. It's part of the Acadia National Park. Definitely recommend hiking Cadillac Mountain. And if you're feeling adventurous: the precipice trail on Champlain Mountain.

  • Thanks for all the recs. I booked Harborside. It was a little pricey but it looked too beautiful not to book!
