I'm baaaaaack!

First, let me just say that I LOVE LOVE LOVE my doctor.  Not only him but his entire staff.  They are the sweetest people I have ever met in my life and everyone was so warm and friendly.

After much discussion about history and current issues he agreed that endometriosis was most likely the root cause and that pcos was more likely a NON-issue.  See that people, NON-issue.  So the Metformin that had been making me so deathly sick was likely doing me little to NO good.  He went ahead and did an ultrasound because he suspected there was going to be something more involved than just the endo.  So D and I roll on over to the u/s room and have an intimate date with Dildo Cam.  Sure enough, within about 10 second two big blobs appeared on the big screen.  I have two large masses inside my uterus.  We aren't sure what they are yet.  Could be polyps, could be fibroids but one of them is really large and of pretty decent concern.  He said that it wasn't unordinary for people to get pregnant with them but to be able to keep a pregnancy with something like that was pretty slim.  They are also the cause of my miserable and heavy periods.  Sooooo he needed me to come back next week for an HSG and a more extensive ultrasound.  He also suspects that my right tube is blocked and that my uterus is tilted.  BUT, lucky for me right as they were scheduling next weeks appointment, they just had a cancellation so I will be going tomorrow morning at 10:30.  Whooopieeee!

The kicker of all of this, I have NO cysts and my ovaries looked great.  At least from what they could tell on the quick u/s.  Meaning the nasty yucky Metformin was doing NOTHING for me.  Once we figure out exactly what the masses are tomorrow (if we can) we will be doing a lap surgery soon.  Like within a week or two soon!

I am so excited I have tears in my eyes typing this.  Thank you all so much for your support thus far.  You girls rock!

Re: I'm baaaaaack!

  • Soooooo happy for you!

I'm not super knowledgeable about endo, fibroids, and blocked tubes, but I do know that in the grand scheme of things they are not impassable hurdles.

I'm glad you are getting answers quickly and things are moving along.

  • Wow...it sounds like this new doctor is really going to help you get to the bottom of everything, and FAST!

Is the lap surgery like the leap? Or something different?

Thats so insane that that old doc had you on meds for no good reason! He needs a junk punch!

  • Did your old doctor ever do an ultrasound on you? If not, I'm going to be seriously pissed. That seems so obvious to me, especially if they thought you had cysts.

I'm so happy you're pleased with the new doctors and you're finally going somewhere with your treatment. AND that you get to stop taking that horrible drug. Hopefully you'll start feeling better soon!

  • I just got the goosebumps for you Karrey!  That is such wonderful news that everything seems to be falling into place, slowly yet surely.  Good luck tomorrow and I cannot wait to hear an update!
  • Wow, that's so awesome that your new doctor is, well, awesome!  I'm SO happy you've found someone who can actually help out and listen to you.  That's great that you're on the fast track to getting things taken care of!  I'm not super-knowledgeable about fibroids and tube blockages, but I'm glad to hear your doctor discovered them and already has plans working.  Woohoo!

And, yeah, your old doctor sucks!  Ugh, thank god you don't have to take that medication anymore.

All in all, great to hear things are looking up for you sweetie! Yes

I dont know what the leap is.  The lap for me will be one instrument going in through my belly button and one going through my cervix to see inside my uterus.  While they are in there they will also lazer remove the endometriosis, flush my tubes and remove anything else that seems to be obstructing things.

Cassie, the only u/s my other doctor would ever do for me was when we had the miscarriage to make sure everything was out.  Like I said in the last post about her, I begged and pleaded for her to do these things and she kept pushing back saying that I needed to allow the meds time to work.  Effin hooker. Dr. D said flat out today that those meds are worthless for me and since I ovulate well, and there doesn't seem to be a hormonal problem that this should likely do the trick.  Of course Dr. D cant guarantee that but he is pretty confident. I give all of you full permission to beat the snot out of Dr. P.  I may do it myself.

  • Totally different Vag surgeries! I ahd the Leap, they go in and burn out cancerous cells. Smoke coming out of your chonch = fun times

Ugh, that is ridiculous! My last visit, my doctor thought she felt a cyst on my right ovary and I have a family history so she sent me for vaginal ultrasound RIGHT AWAY. And tried to get me to go to a doctor that specializes in medical planning for people who are at high risk for cancer (I couldn't afford it at the time but I plan to go in the future.) I can't believe your doctor was dragging her feet so much. Does she not like money?!

  • I'm am so happy for you and D.  Glad you are finally getting some answers and getting the ball rolling.  Best of luck to ya's!!

Ah yes, I have had that too.  Only they didn't call it Leap.  The leap here is a placement test for school lol.

It just ticks me the fluck off that I KNOW that something wasnt right.  I knew for years and she kept just blowing me off.  I mean come the eff on, the things I had coming out of me and were feeling on a monthly basis were just not normal.  I hate doctors that dont listen.   This guy immediatley knew it was way more than just a "bad period" and he was so very right.  When he said to do an u/s I didnt think they would find anything right away.  Or I thought at best they would find cysts.  NOPE square in the middle of my ute were two big things.  Which would  have taken old doc two seconds to find if she gave a damn.  I will never trust a dr. over my own instincts again.
  • THIS sounds like awesome news, Karrey!  I'm very glad to hear someone is doing something for you!
  • Woohoo for your new Doc!! I can't believe your other doctor didn't take a second to listen to you and then not do the u/s! I'm so happy for you Karrey, things are moving quickly, I like it! : )

  • I'm so glad you found a doctor and staff who you love and are more comfortable with!  It is encouraging that it doesn't sound like there are any show stoppers and with the right treatment you will be so much closer to getting your little miracle.

I'm on metformin right now and it is some nasty stuff.

You probably know more about this kind of stuff than I do but I had a HSG a few months ago do if you have any questions feel free to ask.

Let us know how tomorrow goes.

  • Woo HOOO! I'm so glad you don't need that nasty drug! And I'm so excited that this doc is great and is moving forward with things so quickly with you! xoxoxo
  • Karrey, I'm very glad that you are happy with your doctor! It's already like 90% of success :) Great idea to go to another specialist. Your previous definitely sucked! I hope all your tests go well and he determines the cause easily. I had laparoscopic surgery in Sept.'09. As much as I did not want it and hoped that the stupid cyst would go away, in the end I had to do it. Everything went well and I almost forgot about it now. I wish you luck and think that it's awesome that you got an appointment that was canceled by someone else. I think it's a very good sign :)

  • I am so frickin happy for you!  Thank God you have a doctor who is finally helping!
  • I have goosebumps and I am so, so excited that you have someone actually taking you SERIOUSLY! Thank the lord.
  • Karrey, woooohoooo! I am glas you are getting some positive news and a reason to be hopeful!
  • Oh sweetie, I am THRILLED that this new doctor is already on the right track and moving right along.

  • Thanks for the update!

That's WONDERFUL news....I'm so excited for you!! I think it's starting to look very promising :) Yay for good doctors!!

  • Woot!!! I'm so excited for you!! I'm happy that you finally found a doctor and staff that listen and care about your concerns - strangely enough, that can be hard to find. Can't wait to hear an update  - lots of vibes that they are able to clear out any obstacles and that your wishes come true.
  • I'm glad you are on the road to getting real answers in a timely fashion! I'm sorry that you have to deal with those masses, blockage, and the endo. But it is good news that the pcos isn't the problem and you get to stop taking the evil met. Hopes and prayers headed your way for textbook procedures and a quick return to ttc with a healthy uterus.

  • Sometimes Dr.'s can be such cocky jerks, and they don't want to listen at all.  I'm glad you've found a doctor that listens AND performs the necessary tests.  You really do have to be a hard a** about your medical care sometimes, which is just ridiculous.  I hope the scope will take care of the problems and you will be a fertile myrtle ASAP!
  • I am so happy for you that you found someone who gives you REAL answers and proactively orders the tests and surgeries.  You are rockin and rollin now, girl.  Woo Hoo!
  • YAHOOOO!  So glad we are getting good-ish news and moving in the right direction!!

POOP ON THE OTHER DR FOR GIVING YOU USELESS MEDS!!!

I can't wait for you to have all your dreams fulfilled!!!
