Do you keep Plan B in the house just in case (for those not TTC)?
For those who have used it before, I know it is just a higher dose of BC pill right? Did it give you any sort of side effect? Does it last in your system for awhile (I know you need to take it within 72 hours).
TIA
Re: Plan B
"The active ingredients in morning-after pills are similar to those in birth control pills, except in higher doses. Some morning-after pills contain only one hormone, levonorgestrel (Plan B, Plan B One-Step), and others contain two, progestin and estrogen. Progestin prevents the sperm from reaching the egg and keeps a fertilized egg from attaching to the wall of the uterus (implantation). Estrogen stops the ovaries from releasing eggs (ovulation) that can be fertilized by sperm.
The morning-after pill is designed to be taken within 72 hours of intercourse with a second dose taken 12 hours later. Plan B One-Step works with one dose. Side effects may include nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain, fatigue, dizziness, menstrual changes and headache. According to the manufacturer, the morning-after pill is more than 80 percent effective in preventing pregnancy after a single act of unprotected sex"
I have heard it is kinda pricey though so I don't think I would just have a supply handy.
Side effects for me were headache and nausea. Certainly better than an unplanned pregnancy.
It was $45. I don't stockpile it; pretty much every pharmacy carries it.
For anyone that is a little nervous about going to a pharmacy and asking, there is a pharmacy request card at the bottom of the Plan B site, on the right hand side.

This can happen. It isn't an abortive medication. If the egg is already implanted, you remain pregnant.
Plan B can encourage an ectopic pregnancy in your body, so use it carefully. What it does is make the uterus an unwelcoming place for the baby, so if the egg is fertilized already, it wont terminate it. However, if its not attatched to the wall of your uterus yet, the egg may settle wherever it is
In my case, it was my fallopian tube- which ruptured after going undetected before it was too late.
