Stuck in the house with nowhere to go...

So, we have about 10 inches of snow already and it's still coming down! This sucks! Not 'cause I don't like the snow...I do...in moderation, but this is ridiculous. =/ They say it's supposed to snow 'til tomorrow afternoon...craziness!

What is everyone doing today? Going to work? Calling in a snow day? Going sleigh riding?

I called into work already. I live in a cul de sac that is set back off the main road (about a quarter of a mile) and there is no way I'm making it out of this mess with my car. Plus, it'll be a nightmare coming home later and trying to find a place to park with all of this snow. My game plan is to do a little cleaning and laundry and then I may take a walk to my sister's house (she's about a  1/2 a mile from here) and go sleigh riding with her and her kiddies. It's sounds like a good plan in theory, but let's see if I ever make it out of the house. lol DH braved it and went into work. I think he was crazy and should have stayed home. He drove to his parents house, then took a bus to the ferry and then the train up to midtown. Hopefully, they let him out early and he can just head home. He may just stay by his 'rents tonight so he doesn't have to drive in this again. We'll see...

Anyway, enough of my rambling! Enjoy your snow day if you got to stay home...if not, be very careful...it's a disaster out there!

  • DH got a snow day! He's so excited! He's like 'what do you want to do?!', but i have no ideas cuz i'm home every day... Wink We may play in the snow a bit later cuz i have yet to do that this winter!

    Be safe today everyone!

  • I went to work, so did DH! It's like a ghost town in my department! No one is here but since I am new and all, I decided to come in. My toes are still recovering from the frost bite. LOL

My coworker has free international calls on her desk phone (and she is not in) so I might be calling Dominica later. Stick out tongue

  • I am home as well.  I am waiting to see if my class is canceled tonight though.  Until then, I am watching movies or catching up on Oprah.  DH went to work too.   Boo!

  • Work was canceled so I am home!  I have lots of errands I could be getting done but I am finding it hard to motivate to do anything but watch Cold Case and sleep :-)

  • I'm home today!! But, I knew that I had the day off yesterday. DH went in - he doesn't have too terrible of a commute though. No driving, just walking a couple blocks and the subway.

I am planning for the recipes and food I'm cooking this weekend. Its going to be a big cooking & freezing meals weekend (for after the baby comes). I have my grocery list ready and I think we're going to make the big shopping trip early tomorrow morning. Other than that I'm taking it easy, relaxing at home, doing some laundry and maybe play around with some sewing projects this afternoon.

I hope everyone has a safe commute home (or enjoy snuggling inside today!)

  • I'm at work, they are letting us leave at 2pm, but I have to teach in Manhattan at 5:30pm so I'm stuck here till then.
  • It took 3 hours door-to-door, but I made it in this morning.  I can't wait to get out of here.

I don't have much planned for the weekend, just doing some baking to send cookies to the soldiers overseas.

  • Sounds like our DH's are troopers for having gone into work! My DH commuted to the city also, but plans on leaving earlier to avoid the nightmare commute. At 5 1/2 months preggers now, he told me to stay home--hubby's orders! But, fortunately, I planned to work from home just in case, mostly answering email. My managers were understanding knowing these conditions are not the safest when I'm so prone to falling!

I also realized I could never be a stay-at-home mom, because I haven't yet done any of the chores I said I would do! When I'm working, I'm easily in a work mode to get things done around the house, but when I'm not working, I'm lazy! If that makes any sense lol. But, I'm motivated to eat everything!

Enjoy the snow day ladies and be safe!

  • DH went in.  B. and I stayed in, I'm exhuasted from a really rough bedtime last night (my FB friends probably saw the saga of my deswaddle attempt. ).  I'm catching up on last nights skating.

  • DH's office closed, mine didn't. they won't even let someone who had a 3.5 hour commute in go home before 4:45!

i'm giving my notice next week and i can't fvcking wait to be done with this place!

    stay safe everyone!

  • I'm on maternity leave, but my office had a snow day.  I secretly wish the snow had waited until next week when I have to go back to work.  DH also had a snow day, so I've enjoyed an extra set of hands at home.  We ventured out to explore a daycare because our new nanny just backed out on us.  We were dodging falling ice.  Be careful out there!
  • I wound up trekking it out to my sister's house this morning. It wasn't too terrible, it only took me about 25 mins or so to get here. We played in the snow and took my nephew for a walk. After freezing our butts off for an hour or so we headed indoors and played some trivial pursuit with my niece. Then, I couldn't take it anymore and took a nap. With 2 noisy kids, I think I actually slept for like 15 mins. vs. the 3 hour nap I would have taken if I were home. lol So, DH is staying by his 'rents house tonight so he can trek it back into the city tomorrow for OT (what a man) and being the scaredy cat I am, I'm sleeping by my sis's tonight. lol

    Safe travels all!

  • We had another snow day! I finished our taxes. Well, I have all the numbers and papers organized for the accountant. My husband doesn't keep his own books for his business, so I end up figuring out everything in the end. I can't wait for our tax refund from buying the new place!

Also glad, I didn't have to go into work today. Does anyone else have a really crazy boss. He suspended one of my assistants for not doing her job, when I told him she was doing well. She fainted and fell when she heard the news. He didn't even tell me, so I could sit with her until the ambulance came.

Well, back to work tomorrow in the morning for a little bit.
