I am looking into a couple things to add to my Mac and want opinions... Anyone know or prefer one over the other between Photoshop, Lightroom, and Aperture 3. I know that Lightroom will run seamlessly with Photoshop but I want something that can stand alone first and be integrated later (as the budget grows). Is Mobile ME worth the yearly expense especially if I just have the Mac and don't have an iPod Touch or iPhone?External Hard drives (this is an absolute must) Time Capsule or just a mac based external which would you get? My understanding is that the Time Capsule acts as a router as well? Thanks
Re: XP: Mac Peeps
I am partial to Photoshop CS4, but if you are looking at Photoshop Elements compared to Lightroom that's a different story. CS4 is incredibly powerful, but also much more pricey. Everyone has their own preferences in regards to photo editing. I downloaded a Lightroom trial and will prob be buying it as well. My recommendation is to download a trial of all of them and see which you prefer. If you're looking for serious photo editing, I would stick with Photoshop or Lightroom over Aperture.
Mobile ME also offers web page hosting and a ton of other features outside of the iPhone connection. I am going to buy it when my trial expires purely for the web page hosting, as well as the "find my iPhone" and "remote wipe" features...but i have an iPhone. Again, you may want to get the free 60 day trial that should have come with your Mac. If you use it, buy it...if not, don't renew it.
I've heard a lot of mixed reviews on the Time Capsule. Some people say it is great, but I have also heard of a lot of them dying within 18 months or less of use. I like a more dependable external hard drive, so I'm going to be buying a different brand...just haven't decided what yet.
This exactly.
I don't think Mobile ME is worth it.
