This is an XP from the DC board, but DH and I are taking a trip up there next weekend to get out of town, hit
the Trader Joes, and just generally be in civilization again for the
day. One of the things we miss most is ethnic restaurants. Can anyone
recommend some tasty places? I'm thinking Indian (maybe lunch buffet,
but not necessarily), but other suggestions are welcome.
Re: Richmond recs?
There is a good Indian buffet in the West End, India K'Raja, and it's not far from where you'll be. There are two great Vietnamese restaurants, Dalat and Mekong. They're owned by the same people, but have slightly different menus. Dalat is closer to where you'll be, right across the street from India K'Raja. If you want buffet but not Indian, the best Asia buffet hands down is Super King. It's a bit pricy, but if you go hungry and eat a lot, you won't be disappointed!
Have fun!
Jen
If you're in Carytown around lunch time, Cajun Bangkok is really good, as is Thai Diner II. Cajun Bangkok sounds so weird (and kind of gross), but I promise if you like Thai or Cajun food, it is amazing.

I just posted my response on the DC board, but here it is again, in case you see this one first!

Sure! I'll do what I can... Let me know what else I can help with!
Indian: The only place I've really tried is India K'Raja, which is on West Broad Street near the TJ Maxx shopping center. This is supposedly one of the better Indian restaurants in town, but I can't vouch for its authenticity.
Thai: Mom's Siam (Carytown), Thai Diner (on West Broad across the street from Friendly's and Big Lots), Tara Thai (in Short Pump Town Center)
Vietnamese: Pho So 1 (behind Full Kee restaurant off Horsepen Rd), Pho Tay Do (behind Pho So 1 in a tiny little blue house), House of Vietnam (in Ukrops shopping center on Pump Rd), Vietnam Garden (corner of Staples Mill and Glenside)
Korean: 88 Garden (off Midlothian Turnpike)
Chinese: Full Kee (Horsepen Rd, off W. Broad and near the Tan-A shopping center)
Asian Fusion: I've heard that Dd33 is good, but I haven't been there yet. It's off Cox and W. Broad Streets and near the intersection at Three Chopt.
