Have you been to an 80's party?
I have an 80's themed Girls Night coming up. I was wondering if anyone had any ideas for clothing that was not the typical Cyndi Lauper/Madonna 80's look. I'm looking for a twist, I guess. Please keep in mind that we have to go to the bar in these clothes. Thanks!
Re: Have you been to an 80's party?
I actually attended an 80s themed bachelorette party and everyone dressed up like a different 80s icon... some dressed up like Olivia Newton John's "Get Physical" video. LOL legwarmers and spadex - classic!
You can hand out scruunci's and everyone can crimp their hair. Chew lots of bubble gum. And if you're up to it, go to a kareoke bar and sing 80s classics!
A girlfriend dressed up like one of the backup guitarist's from the Robert Palmer video...
I think of side pony tails, scrunchies, really bright eye shadow in different colors, shirts with the really big neckline (flashdance style)
I remember coming of age in the '80's.... shoulder pads, "power" suits, big layered hair, bright colors, paisley, big hoop earings - called "door knockers", acid washed jeans, neon colors, ripped shirts, "leggings"....
I think that's about it.
It seems like you wanna keep it a little tame for when you go bar-hopping. How about you make it all about the accessories?
Ask everyone to come dressed in all black with neon accessories? Yellow bracelets, pink belts, lime pumps, orange hoops, blue sunglasses, bright red hand bag, etc.
"80s" hair can be optional, leaving it up to each girl's comfort level. Also, everyone's got a black outfit and neon accessories are cheap at places like Claire's.
HTH!
