Very New "nestie"here. Looking at relocating to the Las Vegas area. Just kind of putting myself out there to at least know SOMEONE or have someone i can jet an e-mail to when we arrive. Will keep updated but with the military everyone can figure when it rains it poures! Will know more in 3 weeks as to our moving schedule. Hope to find someone on the other end of the string. To do's and dont's about the area would be really appreciated. Also just a friendly heads up to anyone with a dog i would love a walking partner! Will keep in touch.
Re: Relocating!
Living in las vegas is a love hate relationship. Some people LOVE living here and some hate living here. Im more an meh love. You will be moving at a nice time of the year but in June it will get HOT. Last year it didnt get hot till late July but we had a really cold and snowing winter. This winter was mild so im guessing it will be hot in June.
If you are into parties and fine dinning its the spot to be. If you like the outdoors the futher you go away from the strip the more outdoor activities you have. If you are under 21 there is nothing to do. When I first moved out here when i was 18 I was soooo bored.
Also it depends what side of town you are planning to live. If you are planning to live near the base there isnt a lot to do and you are WAY out of town. Also there are pockets of shady parts near the base. Once you get on the West side of Vegas there is a lot more to do and eat. I have a friend that lives out towards the temple/base and he said its a fairly nice area.
I live in the northwest side of town. Time to time this group does a get together but all in all the board is a little slow.
I forgot its a good time to buy a house because athe valley over built. And the job market is so so. We have a high unemployment rate but it depends what type of job you are looking for and how active you look.
PM if you have any other questions. Its the only ones I can think off the top of my head.
Hello!! We are pretty new to Las Vegas, but we really like it! We moved here in June from TX. This city really is anything that you want it to be... hiking at Red Rock, hanging out at Lake Mead, skiing/hiking at Mt. Charleston, the strip and all it has to offer and more.
We bought a house in Summerlin and are so happy that we did. Summerlin is a really nice area west of the city. I feel that it is a very safe area and the landscaping is well maintained.
Let me know if you have any questions!
