The Poor Kittens

So as most of you know, I live in a condo (up and down) and my nextdoor neighbor has two of the most adorable kittens ever.  They are both Gray.  Anyways, getting to the point of this post, my neighbor has been gone ALL week long.  His two kittens have been left alone.  I think all of us in the building had assumed that someone else was taking care of them for him.  Well yesterday, the slider door was open just a little bit.  The two kittens were on the balcony playing.  We went out shopping and came back and one of them was on the ground.  Mind you we live on the 2nd floor.  So Carl got the kitten as I got a chair from upstairs, and we put him back on his balcony.  I had ASSUMED that the neighbor was home due to the slider being open a little bit.

Well after talking to two of my neighbors after we put the kitten back we all realized that he wasnt home.  We are not sure how the slider got open.  Ok, we'll give him the benifit of the doubt for now.

This morning, as Carl is getting ready for work, there is a knock at the door.  One of the kittens FELL OFF THE BALCONY AGAIN!  Luckly, my neighbor across the hall is taking that kitten in until police arrive.  I guess they are going to try to scare the kitten back into its house (the one that is left on the balcony).  I am not sure what good this is going to do.  I would take them in for the neighbor except that they have fleas. The neighhbor admitted this before he left, said he had given them frontline, but that it wasnt working. Grrrr..  I dont even know if they have been fed or what is going on.  I feel so bad.  I dont know if i can do anything.  Anyone have any ideas for me?  Im off to the DR for an NST, but i dont want to see them out there when i get back..

Re: The Poor Kittens

  • Update:  We had our maintenance company come by and they got a ladder.  We got the other kitten, and now he is in a box with his sister (or brother) waiting for animal control to come.  We gave them some water and some food.  Not sure how long its been since they ate.  I feel so bad :-(.  We just dont know what to do.

People like my neighbor should NOT have pets!

  • Oh, those poor little kittens!
  • Those poor kittens. As a huge animal lover, I want to thank you and your neighbors for watching out for them. I can only hope the neighbor doesn't get them back.
  • These people should not be taking care of these pets, I would encourage you to call the SPCA, they deserve nicer homes and care than that!
  • I was going to say the same as Beckie - call the ASPCA, bring them in, and don't feel bad. That moron does not deserve them, and I wouldn't consider it "stealing" or "catknapping" if they were already outside, being completely neglected.
